Water Released into Gomishan Wetland in Northern Iran

Construction of canals, transfer of surface waters and drainage of the farms are among the main reasons for releasing water into the wetland.

More than 2,000 swans and about 5,000 ducks are now living in this wetland.

Gomishan is also a recreational place that annually attracts many visitors in different seasons. Due to its sparse varieties of hydro-plants, it is an important and valuable genetic resource for protecting birds, water species and aqueous plants.

Following you can find IRNA‘s photos of the wetland after the release of water:

Iran Dismisses Bahrain’s Baseless, False Claims

In a Wednesday statement, Qassemi said the recent claim raised by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry on Iran’s role in an oil pipeline blast in the tiny kingdom is false and totally baseless.

“It is better for Bahraini officials to establish serious dialogue with their people to put an end to the crisis in the country instead of raising worn-out claims, bringing up old and ineffective scenarios, adopting a security approach, and suppressing the legitimate demands of their people,” he noted.

The spokesman also urged Bahraini officials to avoid playing the blame game and misleading others and stop trying to resolve their problems and internal crises by resorting to illusions and clumsy measures.

A blast on November 10 caused a fire at Bahrain’s main pipeline near Buri village, 15 km from the capital Manama, forcing the evacuation of residents.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry claimed on Tuesday authorities had arrested four people, two of whom had received intensive training in Iran to carry out attacks to harm Bahrain’s economy and its oil pipeline.

“Immediately after their return from Iran, they planned and got ready to blast the oil pipeline …in addition to committing a series of other terrorist acts. They checked out the location and remotely bombed the pipeline,” the ministry claimed.

Bahrain has for years been grappling with protests with most people demanding a bigger share in running the kingdom.

Turkey Gives Iran Assurance Afrin Operation Is Temporary

Speaking in a Weenesday meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, Çavuşoğlu underlined Turkey’s operation in Syria’s Afrin is only aimed at defeating terrorist groups in the region.

“We maintain that regional states should stand up against plots hatched up with the aim of violating their territorial integrity,” he was quoted as saying in a Farsi report by the Iranian president’s official website.

He went on to say that one of the US’ main projects in the region is sowing the seeds of discord between Iran and Turkey, adding the two states should stand firm against the plot and expand their ties to resolve regional problems especially Syria crisis.

“Some Powers Seeking to Change Regional Borders”

For his part, President Rouhani underlined the need for fighting against terror and foiling plots by foreign powers to divide the region.

“Unfortunately, following their failures in Iraq, some powers have turned to Syria with the aim of changing the geography of the region,” he noted.

Rouhani also said Iran believes Syria’s territorial integrity must be preserved.

“If the region is to have peace, terrorism in Syria should be eradicated. To this end, cooperation among Iran, Turkey and Russia can play a key role.”

He referred to the recent Sochi Congress on Syria crisis and described it as an important step to resolve regional problems.

The Iranian president also expressed Iran’s readiness to contribute to efforts to tackle regional problems through expanding its cooperation with Turkey.

Rouhani also referred to the growing economic ties between Iran and Turkey and said Iran is prepared to expand its ties with Turkey in the energy field and welcomes the presence of Turkish investors in oil and gas projects in Iran.

Conservative Politician Defends Rouhani’s Government

Speaking in a meeting on Wednesday, Jalili said, “If a good thing is being carried out, we should support it. We should not keep silent or try to undermine it because it is not performed by our favorite party.”

“We should not be indifferent; we must encourage doing the right things,” he noted, according to a Farsi report by Tasnim.

Jalili, who is the Leader’s representative at the Supreme National Security Council, also noted that due to the political differences, good things are seen less frequently.

“A revolutionary person cannot be indifferent to what is happening in the country. If we find a fault somewhere, we must stop it in order to have it corrected through legal ways.”

He further mentioned that it is impossible to wait for the president or a minister to solve all the problems saying that all the people must contribute to resolving the issues.

“When we talked about a Shadow Government, this did not mean that we want to create a party. The shadow government means anyone who believes in the Islamic revolution has a duty to follow up the country’s developments,” he concluded.

Jalili was Rouhani’s rival in the 2013 presidential votes, and one of the key alternatives of conservatives in the 2017 elections. However, after the re-election of Rouhani in 2017, he said he has established what he calls a Shadow Government as a major critic of the incumbent administration.

Iranian, French Diplomats Call for Expansion of Ties

During the Wednesday meeting in Paris, Araqchi elaborated on Iran’s stances toward various issues.

He also referred to the bilateral relations between Iran and France and called for further exchanges of delegations and views between the two sides as well as expansion of bilateral political and economic relations.

For his part, the French official referred to the significant role of Iran in the region and expressed his country’s preparedness to strengthen ties with the Islamic Republic. He also highlighted the importance of the upcoming visit of French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to Tehran.

Araqchi is visiting Paris to participate in the one-day Euromoney Iran Conference 2018, which is due to be held on Thursday.

Euromoney Iran Conference 2018 is to be attended by hundreds of investors and representatives of banks and financial institutes from European and Asian countries. The conference is organized jointly by Central Bank of Iran and Euromoney Institute.

Iranian, Turkish FMs Discuss Regional Developments in Tehran

During this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on various ways of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the economic and cultural sectors.

Zarif and Çavuşoğlu also discussed the situation in the region, as well as the results of the Sochi Congress on Syria.

The Turkish FM’s visit came a day after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vehemently criticized Ankara for Afrin Operation saying that the entry of a foreign army into the soil of another country should be done with the authorization of that country.

“This is not justified and we would like that it ends as quickly as possible,” added Rouhani.

Ankara launched the Afrin operation some two weeks ago after the US said it would work with Kurdish militants to set up a 30,000-strong border force near Turkey.

Turkey views those militants as terrorists linked to the homegrown Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been fighting for independence for decades.

The ‘Operation Olive Branch’ is currently focused on the Afrin region, but Turkey has said it could extend to the nearby Kurdish-controlled city of Manbij and beyond.

Persian Architecture in Photos: Old Mosque of Mashhad

In the past times, the mosque was located behind the city walls and considered as a place to host passenger groups.

This Musalla was constructed in the year 1087 AH during the Safavid era. It was registered in the list of Iran’s national heritage over 80 years ago. The structure, besides its portico and two porches, has a brick-made dome decorated with tile and plaster works.

The interior space of the mosque is decorated with inscriptions of Quranic verses.

Israel to Suffer Heavy Defeat in Case of Attack on Gaza: Iran

Asked about the possibility of an Israeli attack on Gaza, during an interview with Beirut-based U-News agency on Tuesday, Qassemi said the Zionist regime would not dare to take such an action because it would suffer a major defeat.

He said that the harmony of the Saudi rulers with the Zionist entity and the talk of launching a war on Gaza by the Zionist entity could be a kind of psychological warfare and an experience for the Zionist entity after the many defeats suffered in Syria and other areas in the region.

Qassemi also deplored that the independence of countries has been bought with dollars, and for the big money, human values are sold.

Saudi Arabia has spent petrodollars on military buildup, he said, adding that US President Donald Trump started to sell them arms after discovering their weakness and created an arms race in the region between Arab countries.

Asked about the Iranian foreign minister’s statement that Saudi Arabia possesses missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons, Qassemi said he did not rule out the fact that certain regimes in the region are being supplied with various weapons in lieu of petrodollars.

He also said that Saudi Arabia could not manufacture such weapons, which Trump calls “fine and good weapons,” adding that Trump would eventually withdraw money, give them weapons and train them in these arms.

He further described the Turkish intervention in Syria as incorrect, saying Iran believes that this intervention could re-activate the movement of terrorist groups there and end the existing relative security atmosphere.

He also added that the concern and disappointment of Trump with the Syrian situation and defeat of Daesh (ISIL) could ignite a war again, citing a Monday attack on Damascus.

Referring to reports of US support for groups in Syria with sophisticated weapons over the past few months, Qassemi said clues show these arms have been used in recent days.

Citing the downing of a Russian Su-25 fighter in Idlib, Qassemi said the actions of some terrorist groups using US weapons could carry some special interpretations and meanings.

He added that the course of the Astana conference was able to eliminate Daesh in Syria, because Tehran, Ankara and Damascus played a role that led to relative security in Syria, as well as the role of the Sochi Conference.

He went on to say that the statements of some US officials indicate that they will remain in Syria, as they came to stay and to implement their plans.
