Forex Offices Allowed to Import Foreign Currencies to Iran

In addition to foreign exchange offices, he said, exporters are also authorised to import part of their export revenues in the form of banknotes under the supervision of the Central Bank.

In an interview with Eghtesad Online, Hemmati noted that 2.5 billion euros has been allocated for the import of essential goods and factory supplies.

The decision by the Central Bank comes as the Iranian rial has plunged to its lowest rate against the US dollar within the last few weeks, traded at over 120,000 rials.

The official dollar exchange rate, however, remains at 42,000 rials for vital imports such as medicine and food.

A secondary market has also been opened by the Central Bank, in which the country’s exporters put on sale their forex revenues at rates under 100,000 rials.

Iran Says Ready to Help Syria in Fight against US

Dehghan

Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, a senior military advisor to the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, says the United States should withdraw from Syria because it has not come to Syria on the invitation of the Syrians.

“If the Syrian government and the Syrian people want to confront the United States in eastern Euphrates and seek help from Iran, Iran is prepared to support Damascus in this confrontation,” added Dehqan, in a Sunday interview with the Arabic service o RT news channel.

He denied the existence of any military bases belonging to Iran in Iraq and weapon factories in Syria, saying, “We do not have weapon factories there. It is not true. We do not build weapons in Syria.”

Regarding the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib, he stated that “terrorists should not be left alone to move from a place to another. We have to deal with the terrorists there and eliminate them. Wherever they go, they undermine security; therefore, we should separate them from those who do not approve of terrorism.”

Iran to Help Yemenis If They Ask for It

Dehqan also expressed Tehran’s preparedness to help the Yemeni nation against the Saudi aggression.

He said if Yemenis ask for help, the Islamic Republic of Iran will help them. “Why not? They are the oppressed people who have nothing to defend themselves.”

He further underscored that Americans think if the Yemeni people give up and bow to Saudi Arabia, then they will be good people.

“Yemenis, with whatever they have, are defending themselves and can receive help from anyone, and if they ask for help, we will help them.”

Moreover, he said Iran can give them whatever they need. “Of course, Iran has no military presence in Yemen and will not have,” underlined former Iranian defence minister.

Dehqan also explained that the Yemeni people are naturally defending themselves, and for this reason, they will receive assistance; therefore, it is natural if some parties want to support them, they would do it definitely.

“However, it is cruel to say that the Houthis are not entitled to get help from anyone. This is while Saudi Arabia is allowed to buy arms from any country to commit every crime such as bombing the weddings and the mourning ceremonies and targeting hospitals and school buses.”

“Saudi Arabia is killing civilians and putting economic pressure on Yemenis. How can such permissions be given? This comes as when Yemenis defend themselves and get help from someone, they are condemned. What kind of logic is this?”

Iran to Increase Range of Missiles If Needed

Dehqan also pointed to Iran’s missile power, and reiterated that it is not at all negotiable, because it is a matter of being and not being.

“It is a matter of authority, honour, independence and national trust and cannot be negotiated. If Americans think they can negotiate with us on this issue, they are very optimistic and they are wrong. We do not negotiate over our missile capability under any circumstances,” Fars News Agency quoted him as saying.

“Considering the current threats, we are able to develop our missiles in the shortest time,” he said.

General Dehqan further noted that Iran’s missile capability is sufficient to cope with threats, but if threats change and there is a need to respond to new ones, there is no obstacle to increasing the range of missiles.

US, Israel Not to Wage Direct War against Iran

Elsewhere in his remarks, Dehqan stated that “the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia are leading a great sedition in the region,” but they would not be able to get engaged in a direct war with Iran.

“We do not think that the Americans or Israelis will wage a direct war against Iran, but they may carry out military operations against our allies in Syria or Iraq under some pretexts. Every decision will have a price.”

He also noted that Saudi Arabia is not an independent country, and thus cannot decide on regional issues by itself. “Saudi Arabia has no political, economic, and geographic potential to get engaged in a war against Iran.”

Riyadh Wants to Say Iraqis Are against Iran

In response to a question regarding the recent events in Iraq’s Basra, including an arson attack on the Iranian consulate, he said, “They want to say the Shiite people of Basra are rising against Iran. Let me be a little transparent here. Saudi Arabia wants to say if you want a government close to Iran, the events in Basra are the result. Riyadh wants to say that the Iraqi people are against Iran.”

The former defence minister added that “we are not trying to form a government for Iraq in Iran. The Iraqi people must decide on their own. Iraq has its own parliament, coalitions, and factions to elect a government. Why are the US and Saudi Arabia interfering in the formation of the Iraqi government? They have to let the Iraqi political currents decide for themselves.”

Iran Congratulates North Korea on 70th Foundation Anniversary

In a message to North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un on Sunday, Rouhani offered his “sincerest congratulations” to him and his country on their national day.

“I hope that through the will of the senior officials of the two states and by taking advantage of the existing potentials, we would witness further development of relations between the two countries in all fields of mutual interest,” he noted.

He also wished health and success for Kim and prosperity and felicity for the people of North Korea.

Independence Day, or national day, is one of the most important festivities in North Korea. This day, observed on 9 September, marks the founding of the DPRK and its liberation from the Soviet occupation in 1948.

In the aftermath of World War II, Korea was separated into two countries. The southern part was subjected to American rule, while the northern part was controlled by the Soviet Union.

In 1948, however, leader Kim Il-sung managed to take over the reins of North Korea and oust the Soviet leadership.

Iranian MPs to Review Bill on Iran’s CFT Accession

FATF’s Blacklisting of Iran; Threat or Opportunity?

That was announced by a top member of parliament who also said the MPs had shelved the bill before.

“In a recent meeting of the Parliament’s Presiding Board, it was decided that the bill be put on the parliament’s agenda to be dealt with,” said Behrouz Nemati, the spokesperson for the Parliament’s Presiding Board.

He said the bill is likely to be put on the MPs’ agenda after their two-week recess.

Back in June, 2018, members of the Iranian parliament discussed the CFT accession bill, which is one of the four bills proposed by the government on Iran’s adopting the FTAF standards, but shelved it for two months.

The Parliament earlier approved a bill on the country’s accession to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, also known as Palermo Convention, but the bill was rejected by the Guardian Council. Then the Parliament insisted on its decision, and the case has been referred to the Expediency Council to make the final decision.

The same thing happened to an amendment to the anti-money laundering law of the Islamic Republic, which was proposed by the government, approved by the Parliament, but rejected by the Guardian Council. This one has also been rejected by the Expediency Council.

Meanwhile, the fourth bill, which was an amendment to the country’s law against financing terrorism, was approved by the Parliament and the Guardian Council, and signed into law by President Hassan Rouhani.

IRGC Confirms Missile Attack on Terrorists’ Positions in Iraqi Kurdistan

In a statement on Sunday, the IRGC said its forces fired seven short-range ground-to-ground missiles on a meeting of leaders of the Kurdish terrorist group and their training compound.

The missiles hit the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDP-I) and the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) on Saturday.

The statement said credible reports show dozens of leaders and top members of the terrorist groups have been eliminated in the attacks.

The attack was meant to be a punishment for “terrorist groups affiliated with the world arrogance” who in recent months have sent various terrorist teams to disrupt security in Iranian provinces neighbouring Iraq, the statement said.

The statement said the IRGC is determined to protect Iran’s exemplar security and warned “terrorist and anti-revolution groups” that they will receive a “stronger response” in case they keep up making mischief.

It also noted that the terrorist group had ignored warnings by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) that Iran would give them a crushing response in case they refuse to stop their criminal activities.

The attack happened in Koysinjaq, a city about 65 kilometres east of Erbil in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq and some 300 kilometres north of the capital, Baghdad.

Secretary of KDP-I Mustafa Mawludi and his predecessor Khalid Azizi are among those injured during the attack, sources from the party told Kurdistan 24.

Iran Foiled US’ Plots in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Leader Says

Iran Leader Attends Graduation Ceremony of Army Cadets

The Leader made the remarks on Sunday in an address to the graduation ceremony of army cadets in Imam Khomeini Navy University in Noshahr, northern Iran.

“Political analysts and the world’s smart people are amazed that Iran … has disrupted [plans] by world powers and acknowledge this fact,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader said oppressive powers use threats to bully other countries and force them to cave into their demands.

“If a nation does not fear these methods and walk on the path of righteousness and justice with courage and confidence in its abilities, it will force superpowers to step back and suffer defeats,” he said.

US, Israel Aim to Diminish Muslims’ Power

Ayatollah Khamenei said the US and Israel aim to diminish the power of Muslims and prevent Muslim countries from becoming regional powers.

“They know that Islam’s message of defending the poor and disadvantaged is attractive, so they are wary of the creation of an Islamic power,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said arrogant powers work to foment insecurity and instability in the region to reach this aim.

“[World] arrogance and their head, the cruel and oppressive US, see their interests in creating [civil] wars, spreading terrorism and provoking regional clashes. Unfortunately, some regional countries help them,” he said.

Closer Iran-Tajikistan Ties to Serve Regional Security: Rouhani

Rouhani said on Sunday he is confident relations between the two Persian-speaking countries will further deepen if both states join hands.

Such cooperation will serve the national interests of the two nations and reinforce regional security and stability, he added.

He made the remarks in a Sunday message to his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon to congratulate the country and its nation on their Independence Day.

He finally wished health and success for Rahmon and prosperity and felicity for the Tajik people.

Each year, Tajikistan celebrates the anniversary of its independence on September 9.

Most of Tajikistan’s population belongs to the Persian-speaking Tajik ethnic group, who share language, culture, and history with Iran and Afghanistan.

After independence, Tajikistan suffered from a devastating civil war which lasted from 1992 to 1997. Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country’s economy to grow.

Iran was the first nation to establish an embassy in Dushanbe. It was also one of the first countries to extend diplomatic recognition of the newly independent Tajikistan in 1991.

Int’l Anti-Israel Art Festival “Hourglass” Wraps Up in Tehran

In the Thursday ceremony, 17 artworks chosen from a total of 3,000 art and media productions received awards.

The artworks, drawing attention to Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians, were sent from 71 countries, Mahdi Qomi, the executive secretary of the festival, said.

The festival consisted of several main sections, namely audio and visual productions, mobile phone applications, HTML5 web games, internet media, animation and motion graphics.

The name of the festival, hourglass, alludes to a 2015 statement by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei that Israel will not exist 25 years later.

‘Israel Will Be Annihilated for Sure’

Int’l Anti-Israel Art Festival “Hourglass” Wraps Up in TehranSpeaking in the closing ceremony, former defence minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said the annihilation of Israel is not a dream but a definite outcome.

“People may ask will Israel really be annihilated some day? I should tell them that the annihilation of Israel is not a dream but a definite outcome,” he said.

“The Zionists’ conditions show their power has been decreased. The new generation of Palestinians and their teenagers are combatant and resistant but the new generation of Israelis are tired and hopeless. This will bring Palestinians success and victory soon,” he said.

Resistance Works

Abdallah Safieddine, the representative of the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah, admired Imam Khomeini, the late founder of Islamic Republic, for creating hopes that Israel will be eliminated.

Int’l Anti-Israel Art Festival “Hourglass” Wraps Up in TehranPointing to the Israeli occupation of Lebanon in 1982, Safieddine said Imam Khomeini told the Lebanese people they will win the war if they remain strong and fight.

He said the defeat of Israelis in Lebanon and their withdrawal in 2000 showed resistance works and will eventually eliminate Israel.

Palestinians to Continue Jihad

Int’l Anti-Israel Art Festival “Hourglass” Wraps Up in TehranSalah Zawawi, the Palestinian ambassador to Tehran, said Palestinians will continue the path of Jihad and martyrdom until Palestine is set free.

“This path will lead to complete freedom of Palestine,” he said.

Pointing to US President Donald Trump, who has recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Palestine and has moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the city, Zawawi said Trump is not a crazy president but a pawn in the hands of Zionists.

“Trump is a Zionist pawn who does whatever they tell him,” he said.

“Trump is nothing more than a pawn and he … won’t be able to take Palestinian lands from them and give them to Zionists,” he said.

Earlier in the opening ceremony of the festival in February, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Secretary-General of the International Conference on Supporting Palestinian Intifada and an international advisor to Iran’s Parliament Speaker, had noted that the “Hourglass Festival” is a symbol of the imminent collapse of the Zionist regime of Israel, as predicted by the Leader.

“The Islamic Republic won’t allow the Zionists to play with the security of the sensitive region of Middle East. Iran and its allies in the region, which defeated terrorists, will never allow the Zionists to endanger the region’s security,” he added.

According to its official website, the International Hourglass Festival has been formed with the aim of collecting and introducing “anti- Zionism” productions by Muslims all over the world in order to disclose the “beastly and anti-human” measures of Israel and its supporters, particularly the US and Wahhabis.

Iran Releases Footage to Prove Ramin Hossein-Panahi Was Terrorist

The footage contained numerous stills showing Hossein Panahi carrying arms and weapons.

According to the footage, Hossein Panahi, who had twice been arrested in mid-2000s, began carrying out acts of sabotage in Iran in 2014 in the hope of joining a terrorist group that had been behind a bombing in Iran’s northwestern city of Mahabad in September 2010. Some 12 people were killed and more than 40 injured in the attack.

Hossein Panahi, security sources said, became a member of the terrorist group in the same year after leaving Iran. He received military training in a camp belonging to the group outside Iran.

In mid-June 2017, as per the footage, he was tasked with infiltrating into Iran in order to carry out a terrorist attack during International Quds Day rallies in the same month.

Security sources said he was arrested on June 23, 2017, after being injured in armed clashes with Iranian security forces. Three of his accomplices were killed in the process.

However, after the terrorist attack was foiled, Amjad Hossein Panahi, Ramin’s brother, launched a campaign in Western media to portray his brother as a pacifist and political activist in order to make a legal and international case against Iran.

The footage said Amjad had even hired European lawyers to provoke the European Union to impose sanctions on Iran.

Ramin Hossein Panahi, along with two other terrorists, was executed in Iran on Saturday more than a year after he was arrested and following due legal proceedings and after being convicted of membership in terrorist groups, engagement in armed clashes and involvement in terrorist activities.
