Iranian Cheetah Caught Stealing Ranger’s Shoes (+Video)

Cheetah Day-5

The video emerged on a social media page associated with the Iranian Environmental Protection Agency showing a trio family of Iranian cheetahs consisting of a mother and her two cubs in Seidowa Wildlife Refuge.

The first part of the video shows a pair of two-year-old cubs walking alongside their mother, looking in good shape and healthy and probably going for an afternoon walk. Another one shows one of the cubs snatching the wildlife ranger’s shoe outside his outpost.

The incidents indicate the high level of security and tranquility for wildlife in the Seidowa region, as a wildlife protection official put it.

Asiatic cheetah is a highly endangered subspecies of which only less than 100 remain in the world, and it is now found only in Iran. One of its main habitats in the country is the National Park of Semnan province located south-east of Shahrood along Tehran-Mashhad Road and southeast of the city of Shahrood.

Yemen’s Houthis Say Ready for Ceasefire

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the head of the Houthis’ Supreme Revolutionary Committee, said on Monday that they halt drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and their Yemeni allies, responding to a demand from the United Nations.

The group said in a statement it is ready for a broader ceasefire if “the Saudi-led coalition wants peace.”

He went on to say that Yemen is ready to stop missile and airstrikes in support of peace and to stop the coalition’s aggression.

“The decision came to support the UN envoy, to show Houthis’ good will and support for the peace efforts,” the statement said.

Al-Houthi emphasised that Yemen has used ballistic missiles and UAVs only to counter coalition’s attacks.

He noted that Yemen is suffering from the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in the world, due to attacks by the Saudi-led coalition and the siege.

Earlier, the UN envoy for Yemen announced that the country’s warring sides have agreed to attend talks aimed at ending their three-year war.

Martin Griffiths told the UN Security Council on Friday that he planned to bring the warring parties together soon in Sweden. He also said the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition are about to conclude an agreement on exchanging prisoners and detainees.

Iran, UN Discuss Humanitarian Catastrophe in Yemen

Khalikov and his entourage met Jaberi Ansari at the Iranian foreign ministry building on Sunday.

The meeting focused on Iran-UN humanitarian cooperation, in particular helping the crisis-hit countries in the West Asia.

The two sides also discussed the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Yemen, and a forthcoming international summit on delivering humanitarian aid to Yemen.

Riyadh and its allies launched a brutal war against Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh, and defeat the Houthis.

After 3.5 years of deadly attacks on the innocent people of Yemen, international efforts to end the crisis are coming to fruition, as both warring sides have vowed to attend an upcoming round of peace talks in Sweden.

Iran Sympathises with Iraq over Tikrit Terrorist Attack

In a Sunday statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi offered his condolences to the Iraqi nation and government and the families of the victims calling the incident “a blatant terrorist crime”.

He also noted that the remnants of Takfiri terrorists, who have lost their base in Iraq, seek to create insecurity in the country and take revenge on the people of Iraq through blind terrorist operations.

However, he added, such attacks will not undermine the Iraqi government and people’s determination to fight against this cancerous tumor and eradicate it.

On Sunday, a car bomb blast rocked the Iraqi city of Tikrit, killing at least five people. At least 16 others were also injured.

Iraqi police said the blast set nearly a dozen vehicles on fire. Such attacks have been rare in Tikrit since ISIS terrorists were defeated in Iraq in 2017.
