Iraq Says US Forces Will Never Leave Middle East

The remarks were made by Mahmoud al-Rubaie, a member of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Party, in an interview with Dijlah TV satellite network.

He also said American troops failed to do anything when ISIS terrorists entered Iraq and occupied large parts of the country.

Rubaie underlined that the resistance front thwarted the United States’ plan to remain in Iraq after occupying the country.

“The US seeks to create failed and tension-stricken countries which need the US presence in order to survive,” the party member said.

“The Americans only liberated two cities of Mosul and Ramadi after destroying them,” he noted.

“The US troopers targeted Iraqi forces and Popular Mobilization Forces,” said Rubaie, adding that the ISIS terrorist group was created by the United States in order to implement its plans.

Rubaie referred to the allegations about Iran’s military presence in Iraq, saying that Iranian forces are not present in Iraq, but that American forces are present in the country and no one knows the exact number of the troops and their bases.

He further praised the advisory assistance of IRGC Quds Force and its commander Major General Qassem Soleimani, and said the top general travels to Iraq through official channels.

Rubaie said Iranian military advisors are present in Iraq with Baghdad’s knowledge and at the Iraqi government’s request, and General Soleimani travels to Iraq officially and through the airport, and visits different areas.

He also touched upon the toppling of the rule of former Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein in 2003, and said it was the Iraqi people who ousted Saddam Hussein with their uprising, and Iran was not involved in Iraq’s developments, whatsoever.

Majid Shankali, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, also weighed in on the presence of American and Iranian troops in Iraq in a separate interview with Dijlah TV.

Shankali said some voluntary Iranian individuals are members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, but underlined that no official Iranian military troops are present in Iraq unlike US forces who are present in Iraq without the agreement of the government.

He said the phone talk between Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo revolved around the maintenance of security and stability in Iraq as well as US troops’ pullout from Syria.

Abdul-Mahdi is said to have hailed Pompeo in that phone conversation for renewing the waiver on a ban on electricity and natural gas imports from Iran.

He also pointed to the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, and said, “Given the presence of Russian and Iranian troops and Turkey’s threats to Kurds, US troops’ withdrawal from Syria will not be an easy issue,” he added.

The remarks by the two Iraqi party members come as opponents of Iran have always accused the country of having a military presence in the region and interfering in other countries’ affairs.

‘Jews in Iran Freely Perform Rituals as First-Class Citizens’

Sameyeh, speaking in a meeting on achievements of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, said the Iranian government has recognized their citizenship rights and allowed them to freely perform their rituals as first-class citizens.

“Before the Islamic Revolution, Iranian Jews didn’t feel free and some of them were even sentenced to death or prison. But they have enjoyed religious freedom since the 1979 Revolution,” he noted.

“In early [months of] the revolution, some thought the Jewish community of Iran are Zionists, but this view was later put aside, thanks to the wise positions of Imam Khomeini [leader of the revolution] that the [Iranian] Jewish community is separate from Zionists,” he said.

He then referred to the contributions made by the Iranian Jews to the Islamic Revolution and said the community has not only sacrificed the lives of a number of its youths for the victory of the Islamic Establishment against enemies but also provided it with great physicians and skilled forces.

The Jewish figure said members of the Jewish community in Iran have been allowed to have their own schools and theological courses in the country, and they currently have five schools only in the capital Tehran.

Jews have been living in the country since 2,500 years, he said, adding that Iran is a country which respects other religions and cultures.

“Following the revolution, followers of all religions were granted equal rights and this has strengthened cohesion among the Iranian people.”

“The Islamic Revolution enabled such cohesion inside the country, realizing sustainable security inside the country, which cannot be found in other regional countries,” he said.

During the Monday meeting, the two sides conferred on a range of bilateral, regional, and international issues.

They also underlined the significance of stability, security, and constructive convergence in the region, particularly among Afghans under the current circumstances, and the need for collaboration between the two countries in this area.

A statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Sunday said that Qureshi will visit Iran, Afghanistan, China and Russia from December 24 to 26.

He told Pakistani media that his trip would be aimed at strengthening ties with the four countries.

In recent months, Pakistan-based terrorists have carried out attacks on the Iranian soil, killing a number of border guards. In their latest attack, the terrorists kidnapped 12 Iranian border guards and released 5 of them later on.

Why Is It So Crucial to Protect Our Tendons?

It used to be believed that tendons are just a joint connecting our muscles and bones together serving as a power transmitter. Meanwhile, the tendons were viewed as a part of body that could passively redirect pressure exerted on our body while in action and subsequently contribute further to our sense of balance.

Over the past two decades a huge number of research studies have been conducted over the elastic features of tendons.

Tendons don’t necessarily function similarly. Some of them are tasked with adjusting our positions like our finger tendons while in writing (localized tendons) and some others serve as a spring boosting our energy as in walking (energy saving tendons).

For a brief review of Iran’s achievements in various fields of science and technology, check the book “Science and Technology in Iran: A Brief Review”

The latter could save and release our energy with a high efficiency. For example, during each step we take, our Achilles’ tendons are stretched along with our feet’s joint wrist.

Sometimes tendons suffer from inflammation due to various causes. Physical activities like gardening and carpentry, even sports like tennis, ski or intense activities like washing carpets could lead to inflammation of tendons.

The pain of an inflamed tendon could spread outward gradually or suddenly particularly when the calcium of that area runs out.

To reduce the inflammation, one should give a rest to the affected area. Sometimes use of ice bag could relieve the pain. Finally, use of anti-inflammation drugs or gels could be highly helpful. If the pain is not eased within one week, you need to go to doctor.

Why Is It So Crucial to Protect Our Tendons?Medical prescription or physiotherapy and finally surgery could treat the pain. In case of tendon rupture, you need to have tendon implant surgery.

To avoid any tendon damage, you should have some points in mind. For example, you are recommended to warm up for at least 15 minutes before any exercise. Stretching – for at least 20 seconds for each move – the involved muscles when doing sports or activities and avoiding any harmful move like lifting heavy things are highly recommended.

With the latest progress made in medicine, it is hoped that new treatments would replace the traditional ones.

Iran to Preserve Asiatic Cheetah Using Surrogates

Deputy Head of the Iranian Department of the Environment Hamid Zahrabi said the body has a new plan to protect and preserve the species by creating a large, enclosed area in order to protect and reproduce the Asiatic cheetah in a quasi-natural way.

“If natural mating and artificial reproduction fail, we will consider the option of transferring the embryo and using surrogates,” he said in an interview with ISNA.

“We intend to create a large enclosed area in order to manage and increase the population of cheetahs in a quasi-natural way,” he noted.

“We hope that cubs born to cheetahs at Pardisan Park could be used to create a quasi-natural population that would be introduced into one of the existing habitats,” the official said.

He was asked if the Department of the Environment may try to catch live cheetahs from their natural habitats.

“We have no such plan at the moment,” Zahrabi answered.

“But we may catch live cheetahs in order to get genetic samples from them because we need cheetahs’ genes, especially for areas where the cheetah population is diminishing due to a low birth rate,” he noted.

“For example, when it comes to the cheetahs in Yazd, we must try to catch them alive to get gene samples in order to be able to preserve the genes of the species,” the official said.

“Therefore, we must catch at least one live cheetah and get sperms from it and begin to reproduce them before all members of the species die,” he said.

Zahrabi also took a question on the possibility of using an African cheetah as surrogates.

“We have designed different levels in order to reproduce cheetahs in captivity. At the first level, the cheetahs at Pardisan would mate naturally,” he said.

The official said if natural mating fails, then artificial insemination would be the next option. And the third option, he added, would be to transfer the embryo to a surrogate – an African cheetah – which already has the experience of bearing a cub.

“Each of these methods to reproduce cheetahs in captivity has risks and there is a 30-percent chance of success in these methods,” he said.

The official said the Department of the Environment’s first plan about cheetahs is to protect them in their natural habitats while also using new methods of preserving cheetahs and seizing all opportunities and drawing on all experiences across the world to preserve and revive the Asiatic cheetah.

Rampant Corruption to Annihilate Israeli Regime: Iran

He made the comments in a meeting with senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar in Tehran on Sunday.

Shamkhani also noted that the most important priority of the Muslim world is to support the Palestinian cause and liberating the holy city of Quds.

“Any act that leads to a deviation in the course of the struggle against the Zionist regime as the main threat to the Muslim world is considered an act of betrayal to the Muslim world,” maintained the Iranian top official.

Shamkhani hailed the efforts of the resistance fighters and the resistance of the people of Gaza and the West Bank against the Zionist regime.

He also congratulated the resistance forces on their victory in the recent five-day war saying that it was the result of their commitment to the Palestinian cause and making sacrifice against the excessive demands of the Zionist regime.

“Today, supporters of Palestine around the world believe that the only way to defend the people’s rights is to rely on domestic will and Islamic resistance,” he said.

Shamkhani criticised the United Nations for its failure in fulfiling its obligations to rebuild the Gaza Strip and providing basic services to the inhabitants of the besieged enclave, stressing that Iran’s support for the oppressed Palestinian people will continue.

For his part, former Palestinian foreign minister Mahmoud al-Zahar appreciated the support of Iranian leader, government and people saying “we consider the Zionist regime as an occupying, illegitimate regime that is falling down. We reject any action that would lead to the legitimisation of this regime.”

The Islamic awakening is on the rise and undoubtedly Palestinians will be victorious, he emphasized, adding that the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran have always been effective.

He also denounced the domination of divisive policies in the Muslim world, which reduced the sensitivity to the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people, saying that some Arab countries are struggling to defeat the resistance front through cooperation with the enemies of the Muslim world and confronting with the Islamic Republic, which is a guarantor of stability and peace in the region.

House in Tehran; Historical Hostel for Tourists

Capable of accommodating 44 people, the new hostel was inaugurated in Tehran’s historical quarter on Yalda Night, which was marked last Friday.

The building enjoys an ancient architecture and is scheduled to function as a historical hostel to host foreign visitors as of January 1, 2019.

The building is one of the invaluable houses located in Tehran’s Pamenar neighbourhood. It was converted into a hostel for foreign tourists after years by Ali Jafarnejad, an investor who is active in the field of tourism.

Historical Hostel in TehranTalking to reporters, he elaborated on his motivation for turning the building into an accommodation.

“I had been interested since 15 years ago to set up a hostel in Iran,” he said. “Because in the early years when I travelled abroad I would stay in hostels and they were inexpensive.”

“I was keen to establish such an accommodation in Tehran. So, I searched among old neighborhood in Tehran until I came across this house. The building was less damaged [than other old buildings] because it was still inhabited by people,” he noted.

“The house had been restored with the permission of the cultural heritage [organization], and it is around 50 percent different from what it originally looked before,” said Jafarinejad. According to him, the building is going to only host foreign tourists

Building History

House in Tehran; Historical Hostel for Tourists
Pahlevan Razzaz

When Jafarnejad began to work on this house he did not know what its history was. After talking to locals, he found out that the building used to be the house of Hassan Shoja’at known as Hassan Razzaz (1878-1941), a renowned athlete and Bastani practitioner during the Qajar and Pahlavi eras.

He was known as the hero of bravery, very popular among other athletes and the No. 1 Pahlevan (Bastani practitioner) of Tehran at the time.

Pahlevan Razzaz was an advocate of constitutionalism, so he was behind bars for some time. His house was one of the luxurious mansions at the time and included different rooms. It is not clear when it was built, but the Shoja’at family’s ownership of the house began in 1891.

So, Jafarnejad is using Pahlevani symbols while decorating the building to turn it into a hostel.

What follows are IRNA’s photos of the building:

Iran, Turkey Discuss Ways to Revive Ancient Silk Road

Silk Road

In a meeting in Ankara, Eslami and his Turkish counterpart discussed ways to expand transport ties between the two sides, particularly by connecting their rail networks, making operational the North-South corridor, and reviving the ancient Silk Road through Iran.

The two officials underlined the unique geographical location of Iran and Turkey in the region which provides them with a good opportunity to play a key role in the regional transport.

The two officials also called for immediate and cheap connection of Eastern Asia to the Central Europe saying the connection is possible only through the two strong countries of Iran and Turkey.

They also agreed to hold an extraordinary meeting of Iran-Turkey Joint Committee on Transport to facilitate trade ties between the two sides.

The two ministers then urged an immediate removal of the current obstacles in the way of transit cooperation in the international corridors and development of transport infrastructures between Iran and Turkey.

The meeting was during the recent visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his entourage to the Turkish capital.

Blood Donation Cuts Odds of Contracting Diseases

There are many people who donate blood out of altruism. Blood donation not only gives new life to another person, but has advantages for the blood donor as well.

Individuals aged 18-60 can donate blood, and those donating blood regularly can continue to do so until they are 65 years old. People with no health problems can donate blood every eight weeks, i.e. the times one donates blood should be at least eight weeks apart. Men can donate blood four times a year, and women three times.

Before donating blood, the donor receives medical examination, which provides information on the donor’s general health situation and the levels of red cells, platelets and plasma in the blood. Blood donation is a free-of-charge method and random test to find out whether or not the donor has certain diseases such as hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases, especially AIDS. Undoubtedly, one would not gain such information about his health without paying its cost.

Donating blood regularly helps re-produce blood regularly, hence preventing certain diseases. Every time an individual donates blood, they lose around 250 milligrammes of iron. Therefore, those suffering from anemia should avoid donating blood. However, those with high iron levels in their blood can control these unusual iron levels and prevent heart diseases and different types of cancer such as leukemia.

Blood Donation Cuts Odds of Contracting DiseasesThe blood samples donated are taken to plasma and blood banks using state-of-the-art equipment, and stored for times of need.

Donating blood will cut the odds of contracting diabetes type II associated with a sedentary life. A lack of physical activity increases cells’ resistance to insulin.

Donating blood regularly reduces the risk of contracting cardiovascular diseases, heart attacks and cancer.

For a brief review of Iran’s achievements in various fields of science and technology, check the book “Science and Technology in Iran: A Brief Review

Researchers have observed that blood donation reduces the risk of a heart attack by reducing iron levels in the blood. High iron levels in the blood increase blood density and raise the odds of heart attacks.

According to researchers, getting blood from the body will cause the body to increase the production of blood cells. Moreover, blood donation decreases high iron levels that cause heart problems and some kinds of cancer, thus preventing such diseases.

Researchers have studied the relation between blood donation and cancer, and come to the conclusion that a regular blood donor is less prone to contracting lung, colon, stomach, liver, and larynx cancers. Of course, researchers believe more studies need to be done, and care should be taken in every field.
