All 9/11 Terrorists Came from Pompeo’s Favourite Mideast Destinations: Zarif

“No one is fooled. All 9/11 terrorists came from [US] Secretary [of State Mike] Pompeo’s favorite Middle East destinations; NONE from Iran,” Zarif tweeted on Tuesday.

The Iranian Foreign Minister was referring to Saudi Arabia and its widely-known financial and ideological sponsorship of the terrorist outfit that staged the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States.

“From designating Cuba to fictitious Iran ‘declassifications’ and AQ (al-Qaeda) claims, Mr. ‘we lie, cheat, steal’ is pathetically ending his disastrous career with more warmongering lies,” Zarif added.

He was referring to a recent raft of actions by the outgoing US President Donald Trump administration’s most forward Iran hawk Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is just eight days away from handing over the State Department.

Most recently, Pompeo brought Cuba back to the US’s list of “Terrorism Sponsors.” The island was down the path of rapprochement with the administration of Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama. Trump’s inauguration, however, ushered in a swift decline in the countries’ ties, with Pompeo’s move making it even harder for incoming President Joe Biden to resume a détente.

Later, the US top diplomat identified Iran, without any evidence, as the terrorist al-Qaeda group’s “new home base.” He made the remarks as part of, what he called, publicizing “declassified US intelligence,” which — as in the case of Washington’s other claims against Tehran — surprisingly lacked all “declassified proof.”

Iran Says Will Never Forget Trump’s Evil Acts, Cruel Sanctions

Ali Rabiee noted Trump intended to make the situation so difficult for Iranians that they will turn against the Establishment.

“Our dear people, who have suffered a lot, will never forget these cruel sanctions by Trump as well as the evil acts he committed against Iran,” he said.

“Trump said openly that he would tighten the noose on Iranians, so much so that people will riot. He said the Iranian Establishment would be toppled in three months or one year,” the spokesman said.

“The [Iranian] government is going through a tough path to create the condition of resistance, ward off Trump’s warmongering and protect people’s livelihood and health. The path is so tough that during the coronavirus pandemic, the US government and Treasury created numerous problems for us with regards to buying vaccines and medicines,” he added.

Rabiei noted Iran had already warned about the repercussions of Washington’s unilateralism.
“Another important event on the international stage last week was the attack on the US Congress building. It was an important and unprecedented happening that we saw happened. … what is important to us is the warnings that we had been constantly giving since almost the time the Trump administration took office, warnings about the consequences of law-breaking and unilateralism by the Trump regime,” he said.

“We said, time and again, that the [US] policy of bullying would not be limited to the Iranian nation. Trump’s critics finally had to pay the price for their silence against, and sometimes support for his anti-Iran policies, which finally bored down on them themselves in their own country,” he added.

Iran Condemns Assassination of Afghan Govt. Spokesman

In a message, Ali Rabiee also expressed condolences to the Afghan government and people on the tragic event.

“The news of the assassination of one of the Afghan government’s spokespeople and his companions deeply touched the hearts of the Iranian government and nation,” he said.

“While condoling with the families of the victims as well as the Afghan government and nation, we strongly condemn this terrorist attack,” he added.

“Assassination is a hateful and unacceptable tool to secure political objectives, and has not result other than boosting the vicious circle of insecurity and violence,” Rabiee said.

“We assure our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan and we will stand by them in the fight against terrorism, violence and occupation as long as necessary,” he added.

A roadside bomb exploded in Afghanistan’s capital killing at least three people in a vehicle on Sunday, the latest attack to take place even as government negotiators are in Qatar to resume peace talks with the Taliban.

Tariq Arian, spokesman for the interior minister, said a spokesman for the ministry’s public protection force was one of the three killed in the attack.

Zia Wadan was spokesman for the National Public Protection Force, a security service under the interior ministry that deploys guards to international organisations across Afghanistan.

Wadan and his colleagues were killed in morning rush-hour traffic in an eastern part of the capital, interior ministry spokesman Arian told reporters.

Mr. Pompeo! Be Angry and Die of This Anger: Iran

Pompeo's Anti-Iran Tweets 'Psychotic' Reaction to US Defeats: Official

Saeed Khatibzadeh said Pompeo’s tweets are the result of his “hysterical anger” at the end of his embarrassing term in office as US Secretary of State as well as his anger caused by the failure of Washington’s maximum pressure policy against Iran.

“As martyr Beheshti aptly put it, Mr. Pompeo! Be angry and die of this anger,” he said.

Iran Not to Renegotiate Nuclear Deal, Zarif Tells US, Europe

Speaking in an interview with Iran Leader’s offical website, Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined that it will not be enough for the United States to return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Rather, he added, the US should lift its sanctions as well.

“After the Americans pulled out of the JCPOA, they not only reimposed past sanctions, but further intensified sanctions under new titles,” said Zarif.

“Therefore, under the current circumstances, the US re-entering the JCPOA will not be sufficient, and it should remove sanctions as well,” he noted.

Zarif underscored that the US should take action to really show that it is removing sanctions.

“Practical steps are the ones that would normalize Iran’s economic relations with the world,” said the top diplomat.

“They should also remove restrictions that they put on Iran’s oil sales. Our banking relations should also get back to normal,” he said.

He added the US should, in later stages, make up for the losses that Iran suffered as a result of Washington’s moves.

Iran Congratulates Sadyr Japarov on His Election as Kyrgyz President

In a message on Tuesday, Rouhani expressed hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kyrgyzstan will, given the “very good cooperation” between the two sides, further tap into their economic potential to enhance mutual relations.

Nationalist politician Sadyr Japarov won a landslide victory on Sunday (January 10, 2021) in Kyrgyzstan’s snap presidential election, which was triggered by the collapse of the previous government.

Japarov won almost 80% of the vote in the Central Asian nation which is closely allied with Russia, meaning there will be no run-off.

The results of a referendum held in parallel showed Kyrgyz strongly preferring presidential rule, which would grant Japarov sweeping powers when a new constitution is passed, most probably later this year.

Just over 10 percent supported parliamentarian rule.

The referendum vote spells the end for a mixed political system adopted in 2010 to tame authoritarianism after two successive strongman presidents were ejected from power during street protests.

Iran Rejects Pompeo’s ‘Baseless’ Claim about Tehran’s Ties to Al-Qaeda

In a Tuesday statement, Saeed Khatibzadeh dismissed the allegation as a rehash of old accusations.

“Repeating accusations and showing fabricated documents under the name of revealing confidential information by Pompeo, the US secretary of state, in the one week left until the rebellious rule of the Trump regime ends, shows their desperation and the failure of the ‘maximum pressure’ policy against Iran,” he said.

“Resorting to such ploys and threadbare and baseless claims can, by no means, help the terrorist US regime correct its path, which is full of mistakes, and restore the unjustifiable image of the officials of this regime,” Khatibzadeh noted.

“Earlier, Pompeo had, once again, during the time he was the head of the CIA, and in exchange for petrodollars, sought to establish a fabricated link between Iran and al-Qaeda in order to use chantage and false propaganda to shift responsibility and pressure from US allies, which were the accused in the case of Al-Qaeda and support for the September 11 disaster,” he added.

“However, until the end of the tenure of the Trump administration, he failed to make the US and the world’s public opinion believe the story he had made up,” he said.

He stressed that Iranian officials have given the proper response to such blame games and Hollywood-style scenarios through all these years.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, which itself has been a victim of the US state terrorism and the groups it supported, has a brilliant and defensible track record in fighting al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorism, and believes this page of the show staged by the radical camp in the US will not contribute to their thirst for, and addiction to sanctions or acts to trigger tensions,” he added.

Rouhani Dismisses Concerns over COVID-19 Vaccine Supply

Speaking after a trilateral meeting of heads of the theee Iranian branches of power, held on Tuesday, President Rouhani dismissed the speculations about the COVID-19 vaccine supply in the virtual space that may concern people.

“One of the important issues for the administration at this juncture is undoubtedly supplying the (coronavirus) vaccine needed by people,” the president emphasized.

President Rouhani then gave an assurance that the administration would take all necessary measures to develop a homegrown vaccine and make purchases from the reliable companies that are a hundred percent trustworthy.

“The administration has also applied for vaccine from COVAX and has made a payment. Millions of doses of vaccine have been purchased in that way that would be supplied and the vaccination will be carried out,” the president added.

The president then pointed to the topics discussed in the trilateral meeting with the Judiciary chief and the Parliament speaker, citing the health of people, livelihood conditions, and the nullification of the cruel sanctions.

Highlighting the administration’s success to reduce the coronavirus death toll to a two-digit number after months, the president said it is important to preserve the declining fatality rates.

On the plans to support and improve the livelihood of people, President Rouhani said Iran has been grappling with a massive economic war for three years, but the people have overcome major problems with resistance and fortitude.

The president noted that the next year’s national budget proposed by the administration has focused on the livelihood conditions, expressing hope that the coordination with the heads of the Parliament and the Judiciary would help achieve the budgetary targets and serve the national interests and development.

Like the past two years, the administration has cut off the current budget’s dependence on the oil revenues in the proposed budget bill, the president added.

He further denounced the cruel sanctions the enemies have imposed on Iran, stressing that the sanctions must be lifted in order for “commitment vis-à-vis commitment”.

Echoing remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the president said Iran would take a practical step in response to every practical step from the other side.

Iran Condemns US Designation of Cuba as State Sponsor of Terror

In a Tuesday statement, Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed Iran’s solidarity with the ideals of the Cuban government and nation in resisting the symbols of global hegemony.

“Like other baseless allegations raised by the US, the claim that Cuba has been working with Venezuela on terrorism stems from the Americans’ disgusting habit of levelling false accusations against their opponents,” he said.

“The officials of the failed Trump regime keep trying to fulfill their unfulfilled desires and take unilateral actions during their final days in power,” Khatibzadeh said.

Euphoric at their country’s exceptionalism, he added, the Trump administration has turned into a source of tension in the world and has done nothing but destroying international achievements and making the US more hated.

Khatibzadeh said the Trump administration’s officials have not even learned a lesson from their defeat in the recent US election and once again showed their unruly and chaotic nature in the recent US Capoitol incident.

“It is necessary to remind the terrorist US regime that Cuba, as an active member of the UN and a leading country in the fight against imperialism and global hegemony, and in line with its right to national sovereignty, is completely free to establish contacts with its neighbours in the Latin American region or other areas in the world and promote its cooperation levels, and no country, especially the United States, has the right to interfere in Cuba’s internal affairs or dictate to Cuba what country to establish or not to establish relations with,” the spokesman noted.

“We dismiss this move by the terrorist US regime and its political officials for its double standards on masterminds and perpetrators behind the assassination of General Soleimani as well as the US supporting and leading of operations by the ISIS terrorist group, and reiterates its determination and will to back and cement ties with Cuba,” he said.

Iran Rules Out Fresh Talks with Incoming US Administration

New US Sanctions Not to Affect Iran’s Activities: Spokesman

“What the US needs to do is to stop breaking the law and violating its international commitments under the UN Security Council resolutions. That doesn’t need negotiation, because a country’s fulfilment of its duty shouldn’t be the subject of negotiation or give-and-take,” Rabiei said in a press conference Tuesday.

“Iran, in turn, has repeatedly announced that it will return to the full implementation of its commitments once the US lives up to its commitments and lift the sanctions. This doesn’t need any negotiation, either,” he added.

However, Rabiei said, some Western countries want to renegotiate issues that have already been negotiated and included in the JCPOA.

“In our view, this is not possible. Iran, Russia, and China have earlier expressed their clear opposition to this. If the next US administration delivers its commitments and abandon the previous methods, it is possible [to hold talks] to reach a settlement on Iran’s return to its commitments within the pre-existing and legal frameworks.”

“As I said, we don’t currently need any negotiation. Our return to our commitments doesn’t need any talks. The other issues have already been discussed; and we have already said how far the JCPOA can go. Adding them to the nuclear deal is not acceptable to Iran. So we won’t hold talks on these issues, either,” he added.
