Iranian, Uzbek Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties in Tashkent

In the Monday meeting, the Iranian top diplomat reviewed the two countries’ relations in various fields, especially economic ties, trade exchanges, and collaborations in the fields of transportation, transit, and energy as well as the need for tapping into the existing capacities and its economic feasibility.

Foreign Minister Zarif also discussed political issues between Iran and Uzbekistan, the existing grounds for cultural and tourism collaborations, and avenues for promoting mutual cooperation in the aforementioned areas.

Kamilov, in turn, stressed Iran’s regional position and international influence, and highlighted the significance of Tehran-Tashkent collaborations in various fields including cooperation at international bodies, parliamentary cooperation between the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups, collaborations in the fields of transport and transit, and using the port capacities of Iran along the coasts of Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

The existing capacities for cooperation in economic, transport, and logistical fields are beyond the current level of ties between the two countries, Kamilov said, highlighting the necessity of expanding mutual cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on the US’ unilateral and cruel sanctions against Iran, Tehran-Tashkent cooperation in the Afghan peace process, and their collaboration at legal-international bodies.

Tuesday Talks in Vienna to Focus Merely on JCPOA Legal Discussions: Iran

Tuesday Talks in Vienna to Focus Merely on JCPOA Legal Discussions: Iran

The meeting of the joint commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is slated to be held in Vienna on Tuesday, April 6, bringing together delegates from Iran and the P4+1 group.

This comes as the event has been controversial due to some false claims by Western media, which have alleged that the Vienna talks also include Iran’s missile and regional programs.

Iran has said time and again that it will return to its obligations under the JCPOA only after the United States lifts sanctions against Iran all at once and after Tehran verifies the removal of sanctions.

Iran has rejected a step-by-step lifting of sanctions.
Tehran has made it clear that it will make good on its commitments if the 4+1 group can talk Washington into complying with this framework, or else Iran will keep moving on its current path.

“We will hold talks only with the 4+1 group about the return of all signatories to their obligations under the JCPOA, and we will hold no direct or indirect talks with the United States,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi in a meeting on Sunday, April 4.

He added Iran will lay out its demands at Tuesday’s meeting in accordance with the policies announced by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Iranian, British Top Diplomats Discuss Return to JCPOA

In this phone call, the two sides conferred on the latest developments related to the JCPOA, especially the upcoming meeting of the Joint Commission in Vienna.

The Iranian foreign minister once again underlined the necessity of the full and final removal of the US’ unlawful and unfair sanctions in a way that Iran can verify.

“This is how we will return to our commitments,” Zarif said.

He also called on the European parties to the JCPOA to respect their commitments under the deal, and play a constructive role in the upcoming Vienna talks.

The UK Foreign Secretary, in turn, said his country will try to help negotiations bear fruit.

The two sides also exchanged views on certain political and consular issues.

On Saturday, Zarif also had a phone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian about the upcoming Vienna meeting.

Iran Says Israel Benefits from Jordan Developments

In a statement on Sunday, Khatibzadeh said any internal instability and tension in the West Asia region benefits the Zionist regime.

“This regime’s fingerprint can always be traced in any sedition in Islamic countries,” he noted.

He emphasised the significance of peace and stability in the Arab country, and highlighted Iran’s amicable relations with Jordan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to any internal instability and foreign interference, and believes all internal affairs of countries must be pursued within the framework of law,” he added.

Khatibzadeh’s remarks came after the government of Jordan arrested a number of high-profile figures for an alleged plot against King Abdullah II.

Bassem Awadallah, a long-time confidante of King Abdullah II who later became minister of finance, and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, a member of the royal family, are among those arrested on Saturday, according to Jordan’s state-run Petra news agency.

Awadallah had helped spearhead economic reforms before leaving as head of the royal court in 2008.

There were initial reports that Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, a former crown prince and the king’s half-brother, was also arrested, but Jordan’s army chief of staff denied the reports and said the prince has been to “stop some movements and activities that are being used to target Jordan’s security and stability.”

Rig-e Yalan: A Must-See Iranian Desert for Tourists

Rig-e Yalan is located at a point where three vast Iranian provinces, namely South Khorasan, Kerman and Sistan-Baluchistan meet.

To many people, these sand dunes may seem no more than a visual attraction. However, off-road drivers and those interested in desert sports know that such sand dunes are invaluable as far as sports activities are concerned.

The climate of Rig-e Yalan, which is an international tourist spot, is such that only animals and camels can pass through it. If we stay there for a moment, we can hear the sounds of camel convoys passing by.

Travelpedia, a reputable international tourist website, has introduced Rig-e Yalan as one of 12 exciting tourist spots in the world, and says travelling to this place amounts to travelling to space.

In order to have a fantastic experience full of adventures, visitors can travel to Rig-e Yalan through the path of Dehsalam village located to the southwest of the town of Nehbandan to get familiar with one of the hottest spots on earth.

Countless palm trees, exquisite hasirs (a kind of hand-woven rug made with palm tree leaves and reeds) and unique salt marshes are among the attractions of the Dehsalam village, which could best be described as a paradise in the middle of a desert.

Iran’s President Congratulates Senegal on National Day

In a Sunday message to President Sall, Rouhani congratulated him and the people of Senegal on the country’s National Day.

The Iranian president expressed hope that in light of the Iranian and Senegalese officials’ resolve, the ties between Tehran and Dakar will grow and develop in all areas of mutual interest.

He also wished health and prosperity for the President and people of Senegal.
On 4 April 1959 Senegal and the French Sudan merged to form the Mali Federation, which became fully independent on 20 June 1960, as a result of a transfer of power agreement signed with France on 4 April 1960.

Due to internal political difficulties, the Federation broke up on 20 August, when Senegal and French Sudan (renamed the Republic of Mali) each proclaimed independence.

US Won’t Be Part of Talks Until All Sanctions Lifted: Tehran

US Won’t Be Part of Talks Until All Sanctions Lifted Tehran

The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission made the announcement after a parliamentary meeting with Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi.

In the meeting, Araqchi presented a report on the trend of virtual talks with members of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA.

It was stressed that there will be no direct or indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington in the upcoming talks in Vienna.

Currently, Iran does not recognize the US as a party to the JCPOA as it pulled out of the deal and has not delivered on its obligations.

Accordingly, it was also emphasized that Iran will not return to its commitments and the US will not be part of the P5+1 talks until all sanctions are lifted and Iran verifies the removal of sanctions.

Araqchi also listened to the viewpoints of lawmakers and it was decided that the Parliament monitor the process of talks among members of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA.

As Araqchi pointed out, viewpoints of Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be taken into account in future meetings.

It was also highlighted in the meeting that some are trying to undermine the trend of the talks.

The deputy foreign minister for economic affairs is scheduled to attend a meeting of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission this afternoon.

The antiquities were returned on Saturday, April 3, 2021, by an Iranian diplomat through a diplomatic cargo.

The relics were repatriated thanks to the arrangements made by the Iranian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Heritage after legal procedures.

Iran had received these ancient artefacts from Austria back in July 2020.

The antique objects had been illegally taken out of Iran by profiteers and smuggled into Austria. The relics were delivered to the Iranian representative in Austria on July 9, 2020 under a judicial cooperation agreement between the two countries with the cooperation of Iran and Austria’s Interpol offices.

Iran to Hold No Direct or Indirect Talks with US in Vienna: Araqchi

Iran to Hold No Direct or Indirect Talks with US in Vienna: Araqchi

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi added talks will only be held with remaining signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“We will have no direct or indirect talks with the Americans in Vienna,” he told reporters.
“We will hold talks with the [members of the] Joint [JCPOA] Commission. We will hold talks with the P4+1 countries,” he added.

“We will let them know about our demand and condition for returning to [our commitments under] the JCPOA,” he explained.

“Our demand and condition is that the US should first live up to all its commitments under the JCPOA and lift all sanctions. Then we will verify it and finally we will return to our obligations,” the top diplomat explained.

He made it clear that the forthcoming negotiations will be technical in nature.

“Talks with the 4+1 group in Vienna will be completely technical. The talks will focus on the lifting of sanctions, the measures which should be adopted, and that it is the US that should take the first step and that it (any US action) should be verified,” he said.

Araqchi also said it is Washington that should take the first step before Iran reciprocates.

“We do not have any step-by-step plan, nor will we accept any such plan. In our opinion, there is just one step to be taken, and that is for the US to lift all sanction re-imposed after Washington’s withdrawal from the JCPOA or the new sanctions which were imposed. … Then we will verify it before we return to our commitments,” said Araqchi.
