Iranian Intel. Ministry dismantles company for ripping off citizens

The Intelligence Ministry said the arrests were made in coordination with the Iranian Judiciary. 

According to a report by the IRIB, the founders and managers of the company are Iranians living in neighboring countries. 

The report also says they falsely introduced the group as an international company that buys and sells shares of reputable firms in foreign stock exchanges. It adds that the pyramid company used deceptive methods such as claiming to pay huge amounts of profit, presented a digital token called UNQT and ripped off a large number of citizens across the country. 

The Judiciary has put the detainees on trial for causing economic disruption in Iran.

Iraqi official asks for explanation about US defense system failure

A drone has targeted the Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi’s home in Baghdad on Sunday. The premier has announced he was not hurt in the incident.

“We are currently discussing the matter with the American side and officials from the US embassy. This is an issue that experts should throw light on and explain,” Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji said on Sunday.

A statement released by the Security Media Cell, affiliated with the Iraqi prime minister’s office, said al-Kadhimi was subjected to a failed assassination attempt with a booby-trapped drone early Sunday.

The statement added the drone attack targeted his residence, but the Iraqi prime minister was “unharmed” and is “in good health”.

The assassination attempt against al-Kadhimi involved three drones, the Interior Ministry said. It added Iraqi forces shot down two of the drones.

Iran minister calls for observing health protocols to avoid another Covid wave

The total number of doses so far given in the country stands at 94,201,273. Meanwhile, 38,893,839 people have received the second dose.

The injection of the third dose, known as the booster shot, is also underway. 178,906 people have received the booster shot.

Over the past 24 hours, from Saturday to Sunday, 126 people died of the Coronavirus, pushing the total death toll since the start of the pandemic to 127,299. Over the period 7,554 new infection cases have been reported.

Currently, 33 cities across Iran are marked red, which means risk from Covid is at its highest level there. This is while 100 ones are blue, the lowest level of risk from Covid.

Iran’s Health Minister Bahram Einollahi says the cities turned red because people failed to observe health protocols there.

Einollahi said given the cold season has arrived, citizens must be watchful to avoid another escalation of Covid. He warned that a new wave of the disease has started worldwide and the number of new infections and deaths are on the rise in countries like the US, Russia and Turkey.

PA says Bennet’s comment on US consulate test for Biden

The Biden administration has repeatedly affirmed its rejection of Israeli settlements and all unilateral measures, and insisted on reopening the US consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement.

Bennett told reporters that Israel had told the Biden administration that there was no room for a US consulate-general that services the Palestinians in Jerusalem, “because the city is the undivided capital” of Israel. Bennet also pledged to legalize the Israeli settlement outpost of Evayatar, located near the town of Beita in the occupied West Bank.

According to the foreign ministry, Bennett’s statements were of particular concern because they came following the approval of the Israeli 2022 budget, “meaning that the credibility of the positions of the US administration and the international community are being tested.”

The foreign ministry explained in a press statement that it is working to translate US and international positions and decisions rejecting settlements and calling for the reopening of the US consulate into practical steps that oblige Israel, the occupying power, to submit to the international will for peace.

“It is high time for the international community to take the lead in respecting its obligations and assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the [Israeli] occupation and settlements, and to stop its miserable trust the Israeli government,” the ministry noted.

It pointed out that Bennet’s remarks “officially confirm that the Israeli government is a government of settlements and settlers that is trying to preserve itself at the expense of the Palestinian rights.”

Meantime, Minister Hussein al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Commission and Member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, stated the Bennet’s remarks are a new challenge to the Biden administration which has pledged to reopen the US consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem.

Nabil Abu Rudaineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said that the Palestinian leadership will accept nothing but a reopening of the US consulate in occupied Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine.

“The US administration has affirmed its continued commitment to reopening its consulate in East Jerusalem, and we were officially notified of that. We are waiting for this [reopening] to be implemented soon,” Abu Rudaineh added.

He continued, “Any Israeli attempts to obstruct the path of reopening the [US] consulate in the place where it was established in 1844 are rejected, and come in the context of Israel’s attempts to impose a policy of unilateral measures such as the internationally condemned settlement, along with the policy of killing and destruction, land grabs, and the expulsion of the Palestinian population from their homes.”

Abu Rudaineh stressed that Jerusalem, with its Islamic and Christian holy sites, will remain a sacred historical and religious place.

“This Israeli challenge to the US administration, the international community and international legitimacy confirms once again that it [Israel] has become an authority isolated from the course of history,” he pointed out.

“The path to peace is clear, which is the recognition of the rights of our Palestinian people. Achieving stability and security comes through achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy resolutions. This peace will not come at any price,” he concluded.

Citrus Fruits Harvest Season Begins in North Iran

Parts of products will be exported while the remaining will be domestically used.

Hossein Amir Abdollahian made the remark in a phone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart.

Following the attempt on the life of the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian held a phone call with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Husain.

During the phone call, Amir Abdollahian sent the greetings of the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraqi Premier Mustafa al-Kadhimi and asked about his health and expressed delight that he is unhurt.

The Iranian foreign minister also said such incidents, which go against the stability and security of Iraq, as a friendly country, are carried out by ill-wishers of the country in a bid to undermine its tranquility.

During the talks, the Iraqi foreign minister also thanked the Iranian president and foreign minister for their concern and briefed his Iranian counterpart on the latest developments on the incident, and thanked the Iranian president on behalf of the Iraqi prime minister.

Fuad Husain reiterated that no one was hurt in the attack and that relevant Iraqi authorities are investigating the related developments.

“On day one of the main phase of the joint drills codenamed Zolfaghar 1400, F-4 fighter bombers of the Air Force of the Army carried out long-range flights from their bases heading to the general area of the military exercises and conducted aerial refueling on tanker planes before using modified rockets and a new generation of air-to-surface missiles to destroy marine targets,” said Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, the spokesman for the war game.

“Among the plus points of these exercises was the use of upgraded anti-vessel air-to-surface missiles as well as operation conducted by young pilots of the Air Force,” the top commander explained.

“Also in another part of the maneuvers, F-4 fighter jets of the Air Force practiced shooting at mobile marine targets aimed at supporting naval units of the Navy,” he added.
Admiral Mousavi said Mirage planes also conducted reconnaissance flights at low altitude during the drills.

The major phase of a large-scale war game by the Iranian Army has got underway, involving four units of the Army, namely the Ground Force, the Naval Force, the Air Force and the Air Defense Force.

The maneuvers cover an area more than 1 square kilometers extending from the east of the Hormuz Strait all the way to the north of the Indian Ocean.

The maneuvers feature a whole variety of exercises, namely electronic warfare as well as operations to gather electronic and signal intelligence from hostile troops using reconnaissance drones.

The drills also saw air defense batteries strike mock enemy targets, plus air patrols by manned and unmanned aircraft.

Domestically-developed equipment and military hardware have been used in the maneuvers.

First Batch of French Tourists in Iran after Covid Curbs Eased

According to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, the 9-member group will stay in Iran for 15 days and are scheduled to visit tourist destinations in the capital Tehran as well as the cities of Hamedan, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, Shiraz, Yazd and Esfahan.

This comes a few days after a group of the Russian tourists became the first batch of foreigners to enter Iran after the borders were re-opened to tourists.

Officials say all such tours are in strict compliance with heath protocols on “visits by foreign tourists under the coronavirus circumstances”, announced by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism.

‘Three drones used in attack on Iraqi PM’s house, two shot down’

The purported assassination attempt against Iraqi Premier involved three drones, the Interior Ministry reported, branding the act a “terrorist attack.”

Two of the drones that targeted al-Kadhimi’s home in Baghdad’s Green Zone were downed and one reached the house, according to the ministry. Some members of his security detail were injured, but the senior official was unharmed.

Images of the damage caused by the drone were released to the public.

The ministry will conduct “a wide investigation” and use “all resources and efforts to get the perpetrators”, Major General Saad Maan, who heads its media department, told the Iraqi press.

The attack happened on the back of mass protests in Baghdad over the outcome of last month’s parliamentary election. The demonstrations have been mired by violence, with protesters clashing with security forces, resulting in many injuries on both sides and allegedly leaving several demonstrators dead.

The prime minister made a brief televised appearance after the attack on his home, praising the security forces for “working to stabilize Iraq” and declaring that “cowardly missiles and drones do not build nations.”

Some of his critics suspect the incident was a false flag meant to distract public attention from the crackdown on protesters. A senior Iranian official claimed the attack could be traced to “foreign think tanks” seeking to destabilize Iraq.

Iran Condemns Attack on Iraqi PM

Khatibzadeh called for vigilance by all sides against “plots that target the security and development of Iraq”.

“Such incidents are in line with the interests of parties that have violated the stability, security, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq over the past 18 years, and through creation of terrorist and seditionist groups, seek to achieve their sinister objectives in the region,” he said.

Khatibzadeh voiced relief that the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi was not hurt in the incident. The spokesman expressed hope that the Iraqi people, government and political currencies remain united and pave the way for the development and prosperity of their country.

Al-Kadhimi’s official residence in Baghdad’s green zone was targeted by a drone attack early on Sunday.

The attack injured several members of Kadhimi’s personal protection team but he later said in an address that he is unhurt.

So far, there’s been no claim of responsibility for the attack on the premier’s house. But the Iraqi military says it was an attempt to assassinate the official.
