The latest remarks and opinion pieces by veteran journalist Mahmoud Doaei. Born in 1941, Doaei is a moderate political analyst who has served as the head of Ettela’at Newspaper since 1980. He was a close ally of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, and was appointed by him as the Iranian ambassador to Iraq in the early years after the 1979 Revolution.
Prosecutors allege that the head of the Ettela’at daily has acted against a directive of theirs which is based on a decision of the Supreme National Security Council.
The managing director of Ettela’at newspaper has sent a letter to President Rouhani over the daily’s coverage of President Khatami’s interview with Lebanon’s As-Saifr, asking him to help remove limitations placed on media.
