The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has voiced concern about the recent raid on the Mexican embassy in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, that saw the arrest of a former Ecuadorean politician holed up inside the mission over the past few months.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Cesar Navas, the Interior Minister of Ecuador and also the special envoy of the country’s president, have explored avenues for promoting Tehran-Quito bilateral ties.
In separate meetings on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani received the credentials of new ambassadors of Germany, Ecuador, Morocco, and Romania, calling for closer ties with the four states.
