Saudi Arabia Suspends Oil Exports via Bab el-Mandeb Strait

On Wednesday morning, the Houthi-run al-Masirah television network reported that Yemeni fighters had launched a missile attack on the Saudi Dammam battleship off the western coast of Yemen.

In a separate statement carried by Yemen’s official SABA news agency later in the day, the Houthis said they had also targeted a coalition boat off the coast of el-Durayhmi in southern Hudaydah port city.

A Yemeni navy source said that coalition boat was carrying weapons and Saudi-allied forces to Hudaydah, which has been the subject of a military push by Emirati forces and allied militants, backed by Saudi air raids.

Additionally, Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network quoted the Yemeni navy as saying that the boat had been destroyed and all on board had been killed.

However, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said in a statement late on Wednesday that the Houthi fighters had attacked two Saudi Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), each carrying 2 million barrels of oil, in the Red Sea.

“Saudi Arabia is temporarily halting all oil shipments through Bab el-Mandeb Strait immediately until the situation becomes clearer and the maritime transit through Bab el-Mandeb is safe,” he said.

Falih also said one of the VLCCs had sustained “minimal damage” and efforts were underway to move it to the nearest Saudi port.

Meanwhile, Saudi oil giant Aramco confirmed the Yemeni attacks on the vessels, which were operated by the kingdom’s shipping company Bahri.

It further claimed the decision to suspend shipments via Bab el-Mandeb was “in the interest of the safety of ships and their crews and to avoid the risk of oil spill.”

The Bab el-Mandab Strait, which is the southern entrance to the Red Sea, is one of the world’s key shipping lanes for crude oil and allows crude exports into the European market.

Yemeni navy warns aggressors

Yemen’s Naval and Coastal Defense Forces command said in a statement that the retaliatory operation “is not the first and will not be the last.”

“We reaffirm that those, who threaten international peace and security and expose the Red Sea security to great risks, are the US-Saudi aggression forces and their crimes and siege against the Yemeni people,” it added.

Saudi Arabia and its allies launched the war in March 2015 in support of Yemen’s former Riyadh-friendly government and against the Houthis.

Yemeni forces regularly target positions inside Saudi Arabia and fire rockets at the coalition’s battleships in retaliatory attacks against the Riyadh-led military operation on Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has also imposed a blockade on Yemen, which has smothered humanitarian deliveries of food and medicine to the import-dependent state.

The military campaign has killed and injured over 600,000 civilians, according to the latest figures released by the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights.

Several Western countries have been supplying Saudi Arabia with advanced weapons and military equipment.

Iran Officially Protests at Pompeo’s Meddlesome Remarks

Iran Appoints Female Ambassador to Denmark

In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the letter contained Tehran’s protest against the US government, and condemned the groundless statements of the US Secretary of State, which were a clear instance of meddling in the Islamic Republic’s internal affairs.

“In the letter, Mike Pompeo’s remarks were slammed as a violation of the United Nations Charter and the mutual commitments of the US government, in particular The Algeria Declaration,” he noted, adding that Washington must be held accountable for such violations.

On Sunday, Pompeo launched into a rant against Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, branding them as merely polished front men for the Iran’s international con artistry.

Iran “is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government,” Pompeo alleged, citing what he called Iranian leaders’ corruption and wealth.

Nayband; A Unique Village in Heart of Iran Deserts

In this type of architecture, whose best example is the village of Masuleh in Gilan province, there is a dense collection of houses in which the roofs of the lower houses are used as the yard of the upper houses.

According to the census in 2006, about 145 households and 484 people live in the village of Nayband, and thanks to the existence of springs and qanats, they live through the cultivation of citrus, palm, berry, and a variety of crops such as wheat, barley, vegetables and legumes.

Some of them are also engaged in animal husbandry. A series of factors including storms and severe rains as well as the migration of a large number of people have reduced the population of this village.

However, there are still people living there, and even the construction of new buildings in the northern part shows the development of Nayband.

Here are the photos of this gorgeous village retrieved from ISNA:

IRGC to Equip Su-22 Fighter Jets with Long-Range Cruise Missiles

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said on Wednesday that the overhauled fighter jets had been grounded for more than 28 years.

Hajizadeh also announced that the jets will be equipped with some advanced weaponry such as smart and cluster bombs, air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles with pinpoint accuracy, as well as the capability to transfer data from drones flying miles away in the distance.

He said “air-to-ground cruise missiles with pinpoint accuracy and a range of 1,500 kilometers will be fitted on the bombers in the near future.”

The upgraded versions of the bombers were unveiled in a ceremony in Shiraz attended by IRGC Chief-Commander Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari, a report by Sepah News said.

Iran Air Force fleet enjoys a range of US and Russian-made fighter jets which were mostly procured before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Years of sanctions imposed on the country have made it difficult for Iran to obtain spare parts to overhaul its grounded jets, many of them rendered incapable during the war imposed by the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in the 1980s.

The US technicians used to overhaul the warplanes in the past, but today, the Iranian technicians say they can successfully do the maintenance without any help from outside.

Iran President Says Trump’s Empty Rhetoric Not Worth a Response

“The Iranian nation has from the start stood up to the American rulers’ intransigence, misconduct and breach of promises in all areas, and has chosen the path of resistance,” President Rouhani told a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

He dismissed the recent belligerent comments by American officials against the Iranian nation as “baseless and unfounded,” noting that their “hollow threats” do not even warrant a response.

Following its much-criticized withdrawal from an international nuclear deal with Iran in May, the administration of US President Donald Trump has ramped up its tough rhetoric against Iran.

Recently, Trump threatened Iran with hardship “the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before” as Washington launched a new campaign meant to foment unrest in the Islamic Republic.

Rouhani said domestic efforts directed towards increasing production and exports as well as closer public coordination with the government with an aim to stabilize the market would be a “decisive response” to enemy plots and White House officials.

Confronting US in global arena

President Rouhani further noted that Iran has undertaken legal international efforts to confront the United States’ misdeeds.

The chief executive pointed to the complaint filed with the International Court of Justice over Washington’s decision to re-impose nuclear-related sanctions against Iran after quitting the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal.

Rouhani said the proceedings have yielded their “first success” with the court announcing to the US that it was not allowed to take any action that would influence the tribunal’s potential rulings before “Iran’s complaint is addressed.”

The tribunal warned the US secretary of state about his actions and plans concerning the matter, Rouhani said. “This is a warning to the US by the world’s most senior legal authority.”

“Today, an absolute majority of world states condemn or view US actions as wrong,” said the president, describing it as proof that the Iranian nation’s resistance has been fruitful.

“US Must Abandon Idea of Holding One-Sided Negotiation with Iran”

In statement on Wednesday, Qassemi referred to the latest statements by various American officials who call for holding talks with Iran while threatening the Islamic Republic, and urged the US government not to be after repeating their failed experiences.

Qassemi described the people of Iran as a brave and civilised nation who enjoy rich history, culture, intelligence and wisdom, and said the Iranians have always responded to threats with threats and to respect with respect.

He further noted that the Iranian nation will never hesitate to defend against excessive demands, foreign domination and pressures, and will strongly protect the people’s rights, territorial integrity and independence of the country.

The Iranian spokesman advised Trump and other US officials to abandon the idea of holding one-sided negotiations with Iran under the shadow of threat, and said, “The United States must know that the modern world and era is not an age of hegemony, bullying, consolidation, and unidirectional thinking anymore.”

A look at the world public opinion and their negative view of the performance of the US government is indicative of a profound transformation in the international arena, he added.

“The United States must keep its limits and recognize its position at this point of time. It must also make greater efforts to understand the place and role of Iran.”

He also emphasised that today, as before, there is no trust in the statements and actions of the US statesmen to hold talks, especially in an American way.

6 Useful Gifts for Your Friends Abroad

Now, choosing presents for folks overseas could be sometimes challenging, given the cost and time involved. You can choose international flowers delivery to surprise your mate on his/her birthday, or gift a voucher to a food-joint, or subscription to a library.

There are endless options available. Today, we will tell you about best gifts to send to a friend abroad.

  1. Travel Accessories

Thus, you can present a travel-pillow, eye-mask, power-bank to charge devices, Bluetooth speakers, customized passport cover, foldable backpacks, suitcases, luggage bags etc.

  1. Selfie-stick/Mini Tripod

For an individual who is recently settled abroad, a selfie-stick or mini tripod is a great gift choice. It means they will be able to capture picture of all scenic locales by being present in the snap himself/herself. The mini tripod can be utilized to stabilize a camera and take a picture or video of the surroundings, in a professional manner.

  1. Elegant Floral Arrangements

To wish your buddy good luck, you can opt for floral bouquets and baskets. If the person will check-in to a hotel or a place, and you are aware of the venue, get the flowers delivered to the spot, before he/she reaches. What an overwhelming surprise that would be. You can send flowers worldwide through online florists and outlets along with other additions such as cakes, chocolates, sweets etc.

  1. Souvenirs from the Homeland

It is obvious that sometimes your companion may feel nostalgic for home country. To make him/her feel homely, you can send over local souvenirs, such as coasters bearing print of scenic locales of the city, handmade gifts, local snacks and eatables, a photo album of all the family members and buddies, little personalized items etc.

This subscription can be utilized by your dear one to kill the blues and have a happy time, even if alone.

* 3D Pen

Another gift you can give a friend who has recently moved abroad is a 3D pen. A 3D pen is a pen that prints in 3 dimensions. If that’s a bit confusing to you, then don’t worry because 3D pens are relatively new and not everyone has them yet. To make it easier, think of your ordinary glue gun – with coloured glue sticks and a smaller tip. But instead of gluing things together, the colored plastic that oozes out of the pen’s nozzle is used to draw figures and artwork.

It’s sort of like drawing stick figures. The only difference is that you don’t use paper to print them on, but instead just let the figures stand up on their own. The effect is like creating a sculpture in different colors by just using a simple pen!

Don’t waste the time and get the best 3D pen in the world!

Things to Keep in Mind When Sending Gifts Abroad

Here are few considerations when you plan to purchase a gift for a pal abroad.

  • Be careful to note the amount of time taken to reach the package.
  • Certain items when sent to another country have taxes applied. Some items are restricted such as jewellery, but you can purchase it on the internet than sending directly.
  • Check for the international shipping charges when buying goods online.
  • If you are using postal service, then lookout for postage rates. The rates will depend on weight of the package and the destination.

Thus, you may pick from any of the above-given items as gifts to a friend staying abroad.

Why Netanyahu Feels “Concerned” about White Helmets?

Thanks to the Israeli government, now White Helmets are safe, spokesman for Israel’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Emmanuel Nachshon, happily said.

Needless to say, the United States was the first country to welcome Israel’s initiative. In fact, it was the USA that requested the evacuation of “creative terrorists” from Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the lives of members of White Helmets were in danger, so he allowed them to travel through Israel to a third country as a “humanitarian gesture.”

One is left to wonder about the reaction of those, who lost their loved ones because of the attacks conducted by representatives of such humanitarian organizations, who bomb buses, synagogues and stab people in broad daylight, a report by Russian news website Pravda said.

White Helmets will now be able to please other countries with their videos too. The Israeli administration may not even seem to bother much about the number of makeshift bombs and missiles that fall in residential quarters of Israeli towns. The Israeli prime minister may also suffer from the shortage of chlorine in daily news reports.

The USA, Canada, France and a number of other European states asked to save their protégés. Of course, officials with the Israeli leadership know whom they are evacuating.

Perhaps, the Israelis concluded a “very good deal” with someone. They know what consequences of dealing with terrorists may be. Anyone can come now to Israel under the guise of virtual humanitarianism advocates.

Russia may not agree with Israel in its approach to the definition of terrorist organizations. Israel may consider certain groups as terrorist organizations, but Russia may disagree. In the past, however, Israel used to consider terrorists in the Northern Caucasus and their guests from Arab countries as “rebels.” In other words, those terrorists were freedom fighters for Israel, even though they had to behead people on the way to future prosperity.

In the context of the above-mentioned humanitarian gesture, assumptions of Israel’s participation in the training of Syrian terrorists look different. White Helmets may take their “show” to Jordan and then to the streets of European cities. It seems that Israel knows what it is doing. Israel’s compassion for terrorists may reduce the level of sympathy to the country should tragic news come from Israel again. Of course, we never want any tragedy to happen anywhere, but Israel’s humanitarianism smells blood, TNT and chlorine.

Trump Says US Ready to Reach “Real Deal” with Iran

“Iran is not the same country anymore, that I can say,” Trump claimed on Tuesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Kansas City, Mo., The New York Post reported.

“But we’re ready to make a real deal, not the deal that was done by the previous administration, which was a disaster.”

Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in May, and Washington plans to reimpose sanctions on Tehran next month. The first round of US sanctions on Iran goes into effect in August, followed by ones targeting Iran’s oil exports in November.

The softer tone follows a weekend war of words between Tehran and Washington.

Trump on Sunday responded to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s comments that hostile behavior from the US would result in the “mother of all wars” by vowing in a tweet that “You will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered.”
