Israel Has Not Given IAEA Any Document on Iran: Russia

“I have no information that the Israelis have already handed over their materials to the IAEA,” the Russian-language RIA Novosti quoted Ulyanov as saying on Monday.

“If they (Israelis) have done so, the secretariat of the IAEA will analyze them, and it will probably take a long time because of the huge amount of materials announced by the Israeli prime minister,” Ulyanov added.

On a live TV program in late April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Israel had about 100,000 paper and digital documents that prove that Iran’s nuclear program had a secret military dimension, according to the report.

The remarks came as IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano once again affirmed that Iran has fully implemented its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the multilateral agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program.

Addressing the 62nd regular session of IAEA General Conference in Vienna on Monday, Amano said, “Since the last General Conference, we have continued to verify and monitor the implementation by Iran of its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.”

“Iran is implementing its nuclear-related commitments under the JCPOA. It is essential that Iran continues to fully implement those commitments,” the Japanese head of the IAEA said.

“The Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of nuclear material declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement. Evaluations regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran continue,” Amano added.

The IAEA is responsible for monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities as per the nuclear deal and should also help Iran develop its nuclear energy program.

On May 8, the US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA, which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Iran President, Japan PM to Discuss US Sanctions in New York

Japan hopes to maintain ties with Iran, on which it depends for crude oil imports. The leaders are planning to meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly later this month for the sixth year straight, it said, The Japan Times reported on Sunday.

US President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers in May.

Washington has been calling for a halt to oil imports from Iran by Nov. 4 and intends to impose sanctions on countries that continue to buy oil from the country.

Japan has been asking for a waiver during negotiations with the US but has faced difficulties securing an exemption.

Japanese oil distributors are set to halt oil imports from Iran in light of the US request, and Abe is meeting with Rouhani to discuss the situation, the source said. Iran is the sixth-largest exporter of crude oil to Japan and accounts for around 5 percent of its imports.

Abe and Rouhani are also likely to discuss economic cooperation during their meeting on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73), which will open on September 18.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono might visit Iran around mid-October if he retains his post in a potential Cabinet reshuffle Abe might hold in early October after his party’s presidential election, the source further said.

Assistant Dogs in Iran to Help Autistics Control Their Disease

Use of assistant dogs is among the new methods used by many medical centres in the world to control autism disorder in children.

“Iran has already developed a new plan to use assistant dogs to control autism disorders. The plan is now set to be implemented as a pilot plan in the capital Tehran but we are prepared to implement it in any other part of the country in the near future,” said Amir Esmaeili, a donator who has financed the plan.

He then expressed hope that the plan could provide the children suffering from autism disorder with a chance to have a better future.

Majid Sadeqi Ja’fari who is charge of implementing the plan, said a number of animal trainers have already been recruited to train the assistant dogs for the purpose.

For now at least 10 assistant dogs and 10 animal trainers along with a number of psychological teams have been stationed in nine centres, he noted.

According to Sadeqi, patients suffering from autism disorder spend at least one hour per day with the assistant dogs in the centers. “The treatment course lasts for 72 hours during which children with autism interact with the dogs that have learned certain necessary skills to deal with them.”

He then went on to say that psychologist teams begin their work in due time amid the emotional interactions made between the children and the assistant dogs.

The plan is set to become operational for the first time in Iran as of September 23. The Autism Foundation and Iran’s Autism Association are in charge of implementing the plan. A number of children with autism between 7 and 14 years old who have already been recognized will be dealt with in the pilot plan.

Efforts are underway in the same centres to develop new plans to use assistant dogs for dealing with blind and deaf people as well as those suffering from psychological problems in the near future.

Iran Says Trump Not Eligible to Chair UNSC Meeting

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, the Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, believes after German strongman Adolf Hitler, who committed various crimes and violated numerous international treaties, no one has violated so many conventions as Trump did.

He pointed to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s upcoming trip to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, and said he must question Trump’s presidency over the UN Security Council meeting in his speech.

“This year’s UNGA has coincided with the United States’ presidency over the UN Security Council, so Rouhani’s presence should be more effective than previous years.”

He added that experts will prepare President Rouhani’s speech, but a few issues must be addressed seriously in Rouhani’s speeches and meetings at the UN.

“The first issue is the illegitimacy of the United States’ presidency over the Security Council. After the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal, Tehran took a logical position and showed it is responsible towards the world. The Islamic Republic was not trapped by the US shenanigans, and adopted a diplomatic stance.”

At this year’s summit, the president should outline this position of Iran and state the costs that Iran has paid for it, underpinned Falahatpisheh.

President Rouhani should articulate Iran’s expectations from other countries in the world, and emphasise that they should not follow the sanctions of the United States and appreciate Iran’s multilateral approach, stated the lawmaker.

He added that the president should also show the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran at this summit.

Falahatpisheh’s remarks were in reaction to criticisms against President Rouhani’s visit to New York, which began with the comments of Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, the chairman of the Assembly of Experts a few days ago.  

He was strongly opposed to a possible meeting between Hassan Rouhani and Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Following these remarks, Mahmoud Vaezi, the president’s chief of staff, called such statements “baseless”.

However, Rouhani recently said that Iran receives a message once in every two weeks from the United States to negotiate.

“On the one hand, they are putting pressure on the Iranian nation, and on the other hand, they send messages that we can hold talks,” said Rouhani.

Iran Rejects Concerns over Delayed Appointment of Envoys to India, China

In comments on Sunday, Bahram Qassemi criticized “certain people in the country’s bureaucratic or legislative bodies” who are unfamiliar with the lengthy and complicated process of selection of ambassadors but repeatedly voice concern, either deliberately or unintentionally, about the absence of ambassador to a few foreign capitals.

The spokesperson then gave a detailed explanation of the process for selection, introduction, ratification and appointment of an ambassador to a foreign country, saying the country’s diplomatic missions carry out their tasks in the normal way even without an ambassador.

Qassemi’s comments came after member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqvi Hosseini urged the Foreign Ministry to immediately appoint ambassadors to Beijing and New Delhi, deploring the lengthy absence of envoys to the major partners of the country.

Iraq No Base for Anti-Iran Attacks: New Parliament Speaker

“We won’t accept [dealing] damages to Iran from the Iraqi soil. We should protect the country and our neighbours,” Mohammed al-Halbousi said in his first TV appearance after being elected as the Iraqi parliament speaker on Saturday.

Also in a Monday phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani, Halbousi described the US sanctions on Iran as “unjust”.

“Iraqi lawmakers are totally against any pressure or economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic and reject the measures as injustice. We will remain behind the Iranian nation,” he said.

The Iraqi parliament speaker then referred to the current regional instability and insecurity and said Iraq is ready to contribute to efforts underway to restore peace and security to the region along with Iran.

Halbousi further expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic for its support for him and said the Iraqi nation and lawmakers have always been thankful to Iran for its unconditional support for Iraq in the past and present, particularly in the liberation of the country from the grip of the ISIS terrorist group.

He also officially invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Iraq.

 

Iran to Keep Standing by Iraq

Larijani in turn congratulated Halbousi on his election as Iraq’s new parliament speaker and expressed hope that the Arab country could move towards further stability.

“I hope with the efforts made by you and other Iraqi lawmakers, we could see the completion of Iraq’s political process by the election of the new prime minister and president,” he said.

This could lead the country towards political, economic and social stability, security and social welfare, Larijani added.

He then told his Iraqi counterpart that the role played by the Iraqi parliament speaker in restoring peace to Iraq is highly critical under the current situation.

The election of the Sunni lawmaker paved the way for the creation of a new government four months after the general election.

Halbousi is the former governor of Anbar province and was the nominee of the pro-Iran bloc inside parliament.

Under an unofficial agreement among Iraqi politicians dating back to 2003, the prime minister position is reserved for Shiites, the president is a Kurd, and the parliament speaker a Sunni.

His election triggers a 90-day process that will eventually lead to a new government.

Iran’s Embassy in Greece Attacked by Kurdish Militants’ Affiliates

The attackers, about 10 people, have hurled bottles of paint at the embassy and left the scene on their motorcycles.

Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident, Greek Reporter news website said.

According to Tasnim News Agency, a spokesperson for the group said on his Facebook page the attack was carried out in response to what he called “Iran’s crackdown on Kurds”.

Earlier, the Iranian embassy in Paris also came under assault by supporters of a terrorist group calling itself the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.

The attacks seem to be in retaliation for a missile attack by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) at the terrorist group’s headquarters in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region on September 9.

The IRGC said the missile strikes were in response to recent terrorist activities along the Iranian border with Iraq and came after terrorist ringleaders ignored serious warnings by officials from the Iraqi Kurdistan region about the Islamic Republic’s determination to dismantle their bases and the need to end their activities against Iran.
