The country’s Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said on Saturday 3,076 new cases of coronavirus infections were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

That brings to 35,408 the total number of people infected with the deadly disease in Iran.

“11,679 infected patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital,” he added.

According to Jahanpour, 3,206 patients are in severe conditions.

He said the implementation of the National Mobilisation Plan and consolidation of pathology, as well as the increase of laboratories approved by the ministry of health to conduct COVID-19 diagnosis test have contributed to discovery of further new cases.

Jahanpour further noted that the failure of some people in observing the recommendations is the main reason for the increase in the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

This Iranian official also underlined that up to now about 57 million Iranians have been screened by health centres.

Jahanpour also ruled out the rumours saying people can get infected via aero cells. He underscored that people will not get infected by breathing in open spaces, saying that just the staff working at hospitals and ICU’s are in danger of getting infected via aero cells.

Dozens of Iranian Inmates Escape from Prison

Some of the prisoners battered and assaulted jailers while making their escape.
“Around 70 inmates broke out of the prison in Saqqez city this evening, and, so far, some of them have surrendered themselves,” said Kurdistan’s Public Prosecutor Mohammad Jabbari.

“Some of the prisoners who are at large have been identified, and teams have been dispatched to hunt them,” he added.

Zarif Raps US for Refusing to Grant Medical Furlough to Iranian Inmates

US Claim That Iran Sanctions Reinstated 'Baseless': FM Zarif

In a tweet, Mohammad Javad Zarif said the inmates are being held in harrowing conditions.
“US even refuses medical furlough—amid #COVID19—for innocent men jailed in horrific facilities,” Zarif tweeted.

The top diplomat said Washington declines to release Iranian scientists even after they were exonerated by its own courts.

“US has taken several Iranian scientists hostage—without charge or on spurious sanctions charges—& not releasing them; even when its OWN courts reject the absurd charges,” he added.

He made the comment after an Iranian scientist, held in a US jail without charge, slammed his detention conditions as “inhumane.” Sirous Asgari said inmates at the Alexandria detention centre in the state of Louisiana have no access to protective masks and hand sanitizers.

Asgari is an engineering professor who was acquitted in November of federal charges of stealing trade secrets related to his academic work. However, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has imprisoned him indefinitely.

Symptoms of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) are very similar to those of other common respiratory diseases such as the common cold. In such a situation, one of the major concerns is whether one should go to medical centres with respiratory symptoms such as cough and runny nose.

In order to answer this question, the Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian Red Crescent Society have developed an online test whose algorithm is based on the symptoms of COVID-19 and international research studies.

The Coronavirus online test has proved to be a powerful means amid the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in Iran and has so far been taken by over seven million people with the COVID-19 symptoms or those who are concerned about getting it.

The goal of this online test is to help people know whether they need to go to a medical centre for the COVID-19.

The English version of the test has been launched for non-Iranian nationals across the world. So if you are worried that you may have contracted the virus, take this test right now.
