Iran Unanimously Elected as Member of ITU Governing Body

In an Instagram post, Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, said Iran achieved 146 yes votes from the ITU members, standing above other leading members.

“Minutes ago, I received a short message from Indonesia’s Minister for Information and Communications Technology who congratulated me on membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the governing body of the International Telecommunication Union,” he said.

The Iranian minister pointed to his recent address to a group of his counterparts and foreign diplomats in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Dubai, and said after the speech, “the secretary general of the ITU came to me saying that with the lecture I made as well as negotiations we had with other countries, most of the attendants praised Iran.”

The ITU member said Iran would gain the membership of the ITU Council with a high vote, Azari Jahromi added.

According to the minister, the Islamic Republic received a number of votes compared with other members of the ITU Council with longer history of membership, including Russia, South Africa, Poland, Azerbaijan and many others.

The Iranian minister then referred to the re-imposition of the US sanctions on the Islamic Republic on November 5 and said today, as the US sanctions were re-imposed, the Islamic Republic managed to create a global consensus in its favour and gain the yes votes of 146 countries to join the ITU governing body.

Iran, Russia Vow to Maintain Support for Syrian Forces

Supporting the Syrian government and cooperation with the country to combat terrorism, as well as the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity and using political mechanisms to let the Syrians determine the future of the country are the goals based on which the political and field victories have been achieved, noted Shamkhani.

The Iranian official made the comments in a meeting with Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syrian affairs Alexander Lavrentiev in Tehran. Lavrentiev has travelled to the Iranian capital upon the order of President Vladimir Putin to submit a report on the achievements of Istanbul summit.

Shamkhani also hailed Russia’s deployment of the S-300 missile defence system to Syria saying that the level of cooperation and common positions of Iran and Russia shows the Zionist regime’s negative role has no impact on the cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Lavrentiev hailed the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the political process of building peace in Syria, noting that the Russian Federation has been after enhancement and continuation of the two countries’ political cooperation in Syria until the full establishment of stability and security.

He also underlined that the plan to cleanse other areas of terrorists, especially Idlib, will be on top of the joint agenda.

Iran’s Beauties in Photos: Helt Canyon

The unique combination of Zagros Mountains, oak trees and Zal River has created the spectacular Helt Canyon close to the city of Pol-e Dokhtar.

Upon arriving in the canyon, you have the chance to have an enjoyable bath in its wild nature. It also gives you an opportunity to make a semi-professional canyon trekking without being equipped with expensive and professional tools.

Helt Canyon is about 4 kilometres in length and it takes between 3 to 4 hours to walk through it and return with an average pace. You cannot locate the unique and wild canyon through a simple search in the Internet.

Helt is located along a highway connecting Lorestan to Andimeshk in Pol-e Dokhtar town between Khargooshan 1 and 2 Tunnels. The name Helt is taken from a Lor tribe’s accent called Najafvands in Held region of Lorestan. The locals call the canyon “Helt”.

History of Helt Canyon

The creation of a natural phenomenon like Helt Canyon is highly time-consuming. It takes millions of years for a river to delicately carve a mountain’s hard stony peak day by day and open its way into its heart to create such a wonderful scene. It’s said that the entrance of the canyon used to be like a dam or lake but it turned into the current entrance after several heavy floods.

What follows are photos of the canyon retrieved from various sources:

Surrounding Must-See Sites

There are some amazing sites around the canyon which usually catch the eyes of the visitors. Some of these s

  • Korko village is 19 km away from Helt canyon. The village is home to a special animal species called Luristan newt (aka Kaiser’s spotted newt) or Cheragh Pough, as locals call it. Hunting down the salamanders or wounding them is forbidden by law and the perpetrators are heavily fined. It is also totally unacceptable by the village’s residents.
  • Pa Alam (Pol Tang) village is about 23 km away from Helt Canyon. Its historical sites include Pa Alam Castle (registered as a national site), Pa Alam Tower and Shah Ahmad Mausoleum.
  • The city of Pol-e Dokhtar is about 73 km way from the canyon. It includes a number of natural and historical sites like Afrineh Waterfall, Pol-e Dokhtar wetlands, Pol-e Dokhtar historical bridge, Kalmakareh Cave, Gavmishan Bridge, Abtaf Waterfall, Kougan Cave, Cheshmak Caravanserai and so on.

UNWTO Meeting to Be Held in Iran despite US Propaganda

The session is expected to be attended by delegates from the 26 members of the organization including the US and Britain.

Alisadr Tourist Complex in Hamadan as one of the associate members of the UNWTO is set to host the session from November 12 to 16.

In addition to the UNWTO secretary general and members of the executive board, other delegates from Spain, Germany, South Africa, Turkey, Nigeria, Argentina, Italy, Finland, Malaysia, Portugal, Indonesia, India, Peru, Greece, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Colombia, Pakistan, Croatia, Uzbekistan, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Jordan and Bulgaria will take part in the session.

Why Does Visit of UNWTO Chief to Iran Matter?

In a press conference, Vali Teymouri, deputy head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO), said foreign delegates are going to attend the international event in defiance of the US pressures on Iran.

“The session is to be attended by 60 delegates from 26 countries. Amid the current situation, tourism can both thwart enemies’ plots and be used as a diplomatic leverage. That’s why it should be highlighted in all international documents as the main priority for all states,” he said.

According to Teymouri, the event is sponsored by the private sector. “The government only has a supportive role in the event and there has been no financial burden on the shoulder of the government amid the current economic pressure.”

Elaborating on the importance of the presence of the UNWTO secretary general in Iran, he said this is his first visit to Iran and his presence could promote Iran’s image in the world paving the way for further cooperation between the Islamic Republic and other members of the UNWTO.

He then referred to the international event’s capacities and said during the session, the participants will exchange knowledge on the latest developments in tourism industry.

Iran was elected as the host of the UNWTO meeting during the 22nd session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Chengdu, China, in September 2017. The event could be the beginning of a fruitful and important route for tourism in Iran and the province of Hamadan.

Hamadan has been chosen as Asia’s hub of tourism in 2018 by the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), the continent’s largest tourism institution comprising 34 members.

Hamadan’s tourism potential includes its Imam Square, the Hegmataneh (Ecbatana) historical site, the Pisa Hill, the Hajiabad Hill, the Baba Tahir Tomb, Avicenna’s Tomb, among others. Some archaeologists believe the city dates back to the Median era.

Iran Dismisses Reports of Phone Call with Saudi FM

Zarif Jubeir
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is giving a rare handshake to his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir on the sidelines of a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey, on August 1, 2017.

Speaking in a weekly press briefing in Tehran, Qassemi rejected the report by Qatari media, but at the same time noted that Tehran is interested in having peaceful coexistence with all its neighbours, including Saudi Arabia.

Asked about a possible change in Tehran’s stances towards Riyadh following the murder of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul, Qassemi said the Islamic Republic’s approach to its neighbours is principled and sustainable.

“We are interested in moving towards a peaceful coexistence with all our neighbours in a way that serves the welfare of the regional nations,” he added.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had earlier denied any secret phone calls with his Saudi counterpart, saying that the Saudi government has not made such a move.

The Saudi government needs to review its regional policies, and if such a review is to be made, Tehran is prepared for this, because we are keen to have good relations with our neighbours, Zarif told reporters on Thursday at the end of his one-day visit to Pakistan.

“We believe tension with Iran has had no benefits for our neighbours, and we do hope they put aside this policy as soon as possible.”

Iran Says Denmark’s Allegations Part of Israeli Plot

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the members of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in Tehran on Sunday, Alawi blamed the Zionist regime of Israel for its role in raising allegations that Iran had plotted an attempt to assassinate an opposition figure in Denmark.

He said the Zionist regime is seeking to undermine the bilateral relations between Iran and the European Union.

Denmark’s Security and Intelligence services recently said they had arrested a Norwegian citizen of Iranian descent for allegedly planning the assassination of the leader of a separatist group that was behind a terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran’s Ahvaz on September 22 that killed civilians and military forces.

Iran has strongly denied the allegations. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Tuesday said such accusations are in line with the conspiracies and plots of the enemies of Iran who cannot stand the good and growing relations between Tehran and Europe in the current special situation.

Why Babies Need Probiotic Supplements?

Babies have special nutritional needs from the moment they are born. In the first months of their lives, they develop heartburn that often causes anxiety and stress for parents.

The reason for this is that the gastrointestinal tract of babies does not perform well in the first weeks and months after the birth. The baby’s digestive system is not initially complete, so they have problems with digesting and absorbing milk.

These problems occur in the form of pain, abdominal cramping, and continuous crying overnight. The severity of colic is different among newborns and depends on the way of nourishment, milking hours and breastfeeding styles.

Why Babies Need Probiotic Supplements? However, probiotic supplements play a special role in colic relief and treatment.

Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria of the human digestive system and exist in the intestines. Probiotic products for babies and newborns have beneficial and digestive properties of bacterial compositions. These bacteria help digestion of lactose in the digestive system, and eliminate lactose problems such as tympanites, diarrhea, constipation, and heartburn. Thus, they have a significant effect on the treatment and prevention of colic.

Another reason your child needs probiotics is eczema. You might think how you can relate bowel health to skin issues, but recently, there have been many studies showing that good bacteria in your intestines can affect all your body. Probiotics are used to protect one against impaired immune functions and reduce soreness. These are two factors that are highly effective in the development of eczema.

For a more detailed review of Iran’s achievments in various fields of science and technology, check the book “Science and Technology in Iran: A Brief Review”, released by the Science and Technology Department of the Iranian President’s Office.

The third reason for the use of probiotic is to treat babies’ allergies. It is said that seasonal allergies and food allergies decrease with the use of probiotics at an early age.

Intestinal health is effective in seasonal allergic symptoms. Also, signs of food intolerance and food allergies are rooted in inflammation of the intestine and imbalance of the intestinal bacteria.

Therefore, the consumption of probiotics and the balance of the population of the intestinal microflora have a positive and effective effect on the reduction of allergies and inflammation.

The top story in all papers today was the nationwide November 4 rallies held in Iran to condemn the US policies towards the country, particularly the sanctions it just re-imposed.

Several papers also covered the Guardian Council’s controversial decision to reject a bill on Iran’s accession to the Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) convention, which had been earlier passed by the Parliament.

Many reformist papers criticized the timing of the legislation watchdog’s announcement, arguing that rejecting the bill on the day when the US sanctions were to be re-imposed was a gift to US President Donald Trump.

Iran Thwarts Israeli Cyber-Attacks on Its Communications Infrastructure

Hamid Fattahi said in a tweet that sporadic attacks by the occupying regime were launched on some of Iran’s communications infrastructure, all of which have been thwarted strongly.

“It’s no surprise to the world that they claim to be advocates of human rights while killing a nation in cold blood,” reads his message.

He further mentioned that they falsely claim the Islamic Republic has launched cyberattacks while they arrange such attacks themselves.

Minutes after Fattahi’s post on Twitter, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said in a separate tweet that the regime, which has a background of using cyber-attacks in cases like Stuxnet, was trying this time to inflict damage on Iran’s communications infrastructure.

“Of course, thanks to the vigilance of the technical teams, they returned empty-handed. We will pursue this hostile act through international bodies,” added Azari Jahromi.

A malware dubbed Stuxnet was deployed against Iran’s nuclear facilities back in 2011. The Washington Post reported in June 2012 that the US National Security Agency (NSA), its spy service CIA, and Israel’s military had worked together to launch Stuxnet against the facilities.
