Iran-Japan ‘Women in Development’ Symposium Kicks Off

The first Iran-Japan symposium on 'Women's Roles in Sustainable Development' began in the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) in the capital on May 9.

The event was held in the presence of Foreign Minister Deputy for Legal and International Affairs and the former Iranian ambassador to Japan Abbas Araqchi, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Mollaverdi, the Japanese ambassador to Iran Koji Haneda and the wife of the Iranian Foreign Minister Maryam Imaniyeh.

Akie Abe, the spouse of the Japanese Prime Minister, was also present at the event.

The event is hosted by the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, in cooperation with IPIS and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
