Most United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members have slammed Israel’s recognition of Somaliland at a meeting convened in response to the move, which several countries announced may also have serious implications for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The leader of Yemen’s Houthis has warned any Israeli presence in Somaliland would be considered a “military target”, in the latest condemnation of Tel Aviv’s move to recognise the breakaway region.
Tel Aviv's recognition of the breakaway region of Somaliland "is a threat to the security and stability of the world and the region," Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told an emergency parliamentary session on Sunday.
