Several Iranian Firms Attend China International Import Expo

As many as 28 Iranian firms are attending the event under the aegis of the Science and Technology Department of the Presidential Office and its Innovation and Development Fund.

The Iranian companies have received 100% financial support from the two affiliates of the Presidential Office, which has paid all costs of the pavilion and the firms’ attendance.

The Iranian pavilion has also held meetings to introduce the products of Iranian knowledge-based and technological companies.

The CIIE is one of major annual economic events of China where exhibitors put on show their achievements in a whole range of areas, including technology, the author industry, medical care and equipment, trade, food and agriculture.

By holding the exhibition, China aims to pursue the objective of freeing up its economy, encouraging international companies to be present in the country, and help Chinese industries and enterprises to directly connect to major producers and owners of science and technology worldwide.

The third CIIE brings together more than 2700 foreign companies from 120 countries on a ground measuring 30,000 square metres.

The event runs from November 5-10, 2020, drawing more than 400,000 visitors.

No Legal Verdict against Iranian Banks in Bahrain: CBI Official

No Legal Verdict against Iranian Banks in Bahrain: CBI Official

In comments on Saturday, director-general of CBI’s Legal Affairs Department rejected reports that Bahraini courts have issued rulings against a number of Iranian banks.

Morteza E’tebari said none of the Iranian banks, including the Central Bank, has received any ruling from the Bahraini courts that would contain information on the subject of the case, the allegations, the defendant, or the name of a judicial authority working on the case.

Any verdict issued against the Iranian banks would be a fabricated and political ruling that lacks legal credibility, he noted, saying such decision would be inadmissible because of ignoring the right to judicial defense processes.

E’tebari made it clear that any executive action on the basis of the unfounded rulings would be deemed null and void, saying Iran will give the appropriate legal response at the proper time as soon as it receives any court ruling.

The CBI official then denounced the Bahraini government’s ruling against Future Bank and its managers, saying the rulings are based upon bogus charges and fabricated cases without going through legal procedures.

“The Bahraini government’s measure is a support for the US government’s maximum pressures (against Iran) and is aimed at diverting the public opinion from that country’s illegal move to confiscate the Bank (Future Bank) unlawfully,” he noted.

In a statement in April, Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the Bahraini government’s rulings against Future Bank and its managers and against a number of other Iranian banks, saying, “The rulings have been issued on the basis of a fabricated case, and the bogus accusations against the convicts in the case lack any legal value and bear the Bahraini government’s responsibility for their consequences. Needless to say, Iran will not hesitate to defend the interests and rights of its nationals.”

“Future Bank was founded in 2004 at the suggestion and with the permission of the Bahraini government as a joint venture among Iran’s Melli Bank and Saderat Bank as well as Bahrain’s Ahli United Bank, and, from the outset, that country’s (Bahrain’s) Central Bank has been constantly and continually monitoring the banking activities and transactions through its supervisory sections and its representatives in Future Bank’s board of directors,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on April 1.

Iran’s Anzali Port: A Mesmerizing City with Dazzling Attractions

Anzali Port

Anzali is the second most populated city of northern Gilan province. Anzali also gets the most rain among all cities across the country. The port city is particularly known for its mesmerizing lagoon called Anzali Lagoon. Measuring 20 thousand hectares, the wetland is one of Iran’s environmental wonders and has been registered internationally.

Anzali Lagoon hosts migratory birds and, in its shallow parts, is a refuge for horses and buffalos. Beautiful water lilies make the wetland all the more attractive.

Among the visitor sites of the port city are its harbour and coastline, which stretches as long as 42 kilometres.

The pier is Iran’s third busiest in terms of the volume of the cargo loaded and unloaded.

In 1922, Germans brought the first ship from Europe to Anzali port. Run by Russia, the pier was handed over to Iranian officials of the time in 1927.

Located near the pier, the coastal green belt of Anzali is yet another attractions of the city. Built in 1928, the architecture of this coast park is inspired by the Russian architecture. The park gives the pier a picturesque view as vessels ply across the water and seagulls fly over.

Time for US to Make Up for Mistakes: President Rouhani

Time for US to Make Up for Mistakes

Addressing a session of the government’s Economic Coordination Headquarters on Sunday, President Rouhani said the results of the US presidential election reveal that Washington’s “damaging and wrong” policies over the past three years have been rejected not only by the world’s people, but also by the American citizens.

“The next US administration has now an opportunity to make up for the past mistakes and return to the path of commitment to international undertakings by respecting the global rules,” the Iranian president added.

President Rouhani reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to the policy of constructive interaction with the world and always carries out its commitments if all parties honour their responsibly.

The Iranian nation has overcome an economic war imposed by the US, the president underlined, adding, “With their heroic resistance against the imposed economic war, the Iranian people proved that the US policy of maximum pressure is doomed to failure.”

President Rouhani then stressed the need to promote cooperation and interaction between Iran and the neighbours in order to ensure regional security and development, saying the path to economic stability and growth in Iran should be followed strongly and immediately.

The president finally pointed to the Iranian administration’s policies for economic growth by boosting domestic production, stimulating investment, and strengthening the national currency.

“The suffering of the people of that country, especially its academics, has deeply touched the Iranian scientific community given the cultural, religious, geographical and language commonalities between Iran and Afghanistan,” said the Iranian minister.

“This tragedy which killed a large number of Afghan university students hurt the feelings of academics, university professors and especially university students in Iran,” he added.

He said Iranian universities have always hosted Afghan students, and remains fully ready to welcome all Afghan students interested in continuing their studies.

In the phone call, the Iranian Foreign Minister’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Mohammad-Ebrahim Taherian, and his German counterpart Markus Potzel discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

They also weighed plans for the promotion of cooperation between Iran and Germany over the Afghan issues.

Taherian and Potzel also expressed concern about the spread of insecurity in Afghanistan, stressing the need for a negotiated political agreement to address the problems.

The Iranian officials have already expressed support for the peace process in Afghanistan under the guidance of the Kabul government, hoping that the intra-Afghan negotiations would yield results with the inclusion of all Afghan groups.

Iran Says US Change of Tack to Benefit Region, World

Iran Says US Change of Tack to Benefit Region, World

Ali Rabiei, in comments on Saturday, reiterated that what matters to Iran is what approach the administration of the next US president adopts.

“The Supreme Leader said whoever becomes US president will have no bearing on our policies. Mr. Rouhani, too, echoed the same, saying who is elected as president in the United States is not important to us, but what is important is the approach that the US adopts,” said Rabiei.

“These remarks do not mean ignorance of potential differences in behaviour that different US presidents might exhibit; rather, the comments are a testament to the principles which have driven our foreign policy in recent years, especially after the eleventh [Iranian] administration took office,” he said.

“During all those years when the Trump administration, with personal selfishness and a nature of warmongering and spreading hatred and by bringing together the most anti-human group at the White House, and in defiance of the former US administration and prodded by a number of regional countries, chose to withdraw from the JCPOA and impose unilateral and illegal sanctions on our nation, we offered a very simple solution to this act of law breaking: Return to the JCPOA and comply with the commitments which not only the Obama administration, but the US government, as a legal and lasting entity, had undertaken to fulfill before the international community,” said the government spokesman.

“All of us knew that submission to Trump’s bullying would not only not make him retreat, but also jeopardize Iran’s long-term interests,” he noted.
“We also knew that such a policy would set a wicked precedent that might hold Iranians hostage to sanctions for the coming decades … and, in one sense, there would be no end to Trump’s illegitimate demands and Iran would turn into a humiliated and fragile society,” he said.

“From our point of view, the JCPOA’s raison d’être was to free the country’s national economy from being hostage to political games and the false crises associated with them, so that Iran’s domestic development would no longer be contingent upon ups and downs in foreign relations,” he said.

“Henceforth, one of the objectives of the JCPOA was to counter strategies adopted by the US, Zionists and some regional warmongers who wouldn’t like to see Iran’s growth and development,” he said.

“In fact, employing constructive foreign interaction not only prevented the United States’ bellicose policies and was a message of regional peace, but also set the stage for tapping into a global opportunity for economic development in our country with reliance on domestic potential,” said the spokesman.

He said the Iran nuclear deal not only protected national development, but served as a tool to stand up to the US bullying and unilateralism against Iranians.

He said the Trump administration pulled out of the JCPOA, and the next person who takes the rein at the White House can change tack and adopt an approach unlike that of Trump “who tried to associate his war on the JCPOA with Iranians’ livelihoods, health and welfare.”

“Today, the ‘maximum pressure’ policy’s days are numbered,” he noted.

“Unlike what Trump thought, not only did Iran not collapse, but experienced an oil-free economy through resistance,” he said.

He noted the US can return to the logical path by respecting Iranians’ right to enjoy welfare, health and security and distance itself from anti-human and warmongering policies that the White House has adopted today.

“Such a path will benefit world peace and security as well as people in the region as well,” he said.
