Official: Drone made emergency Landing in Iran’s Kouhrang

Jafar Mardani told Fars News Agency that the drone was being used by the meteorological organization as part of a cloud fertilization project in the area, when the incident happened.

He said the UAV began its flight from the provincial capital Shahr-e Kord on Thursday and headed to the western parts of the province for the project.

Mardani added that the drone was forced to use its parachute and make an emergency landing due to “adverse weather conditions in Kouhrang area and strong winds” there.

The drone, he said, was carried from the local heights to the village of Meymeh on Saturday and “was transferred by land to its origin by experts”.

Media reports earlier reported the drone had crashed. It came after local people shared footage on social media, which showed the drone being carried by a chopper to Meymeh.

Iran, Kyrgyzstan call for all-out expansion of cooperation

They made the call during a meeting between Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Vice Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s National Security Council Talatbek Masadykov in Tehran.

During the meeting, Shamkhani said Tehran is ready for all-out cooperation with Bishkek in different spheres. He added that Iran has specifically potential for joint work in the fields of transit, energy, science, medicine, Information Technology and knowledge-based companies.

Shamkhani also touched on the situation in Afghanistan. He said the “complicated” situation in the country, and in the wider region, is a result of the 20-year occupation of the Afghanistan and other “wrong policies of the US”, which are to blame for regional crises.

“Seeing the need for establishing lasting peace, stability and security in Afghanistan, we consider formation of an inclusive government with the participation of all tribes as a key factor in the realization of this objective,” he added.

Masadykov, in turn, said his country is willing to upgrade political, security and economic ties with Iran.

He called for cooperation with Iran to use its southern ports as a transit route for Kyrgyzstan’s imports saying this is a priority for Bishkek.

Masadykov also called for security cooperation against terrorism, narcotics and organized crime.

The official added that regional countries should join hands to help restore stability to Afghanistan and prevent a humanitarian crisis and growth of terrorism in the country.

Iranian teacher travelling 80km daily to teach nomad students

To teach students and get back home, Reza Rezaee travels a total distance of 80 kilometers between the counties of Siahkhani and Qadah in the Western Iranian Province of Ilam, across hardly negotiable nomadic regions every day.

Having 25 years of teaching experience, Rezaee himself studied in a nomad-populated area when he was a student.

“Teaching nomad students is a very attractive and enjoyable job for me,” he told Fars News Agency.

“The number of students was more over previous years as nomads migrated to this area, but this year, they didn’t come here due to drought,” he added.

He says these students are very far from the nearest schools, so he decided to reach out to them to educate them two days a week.

He says he goes to them on motorbike, though the road ahead is rough and difficult to pass.

He says he loves his job and is really satisfied when he can see his students learning lessons.

“Drone Crashes in Western Iranian Kouhrang County”

Witnesses said the drone was transferred by a chopper from the local highlands to Meymeh and was later transferred from the village by a crane truck, after what they called a crash.

Iran’s official news agency IRNA said a local official in Kouhrang confirmed the authenticity of the footage of the chopper and the drone, circulating on social media.

“A drone crashed in the village of Meymeh in Kouhrang county,” the informed source was cited as saying.

“So far no information on the drone is available and detailed reports have not been published.”

Kuwait prohibits entry of vessels carrying goods destined to, originated from Israel

Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Rana al-Faris on Saturday announced the ban, the Kuwaiti daily newspaper al-Anba reported.

The order prohibits entry permits requested for ships carrying goods to or from the occupied Palestinian lands, even if goods carried from the territories are brought to another country outside of Kuwait.

Under the Kuwaiti law, individuals and companies cannot conclude agreements with organizations or persons living in the occupied lands and cannot deal financially or commercially with persons who have an interest there, even if they live outside Israel.

It is also illegal to import, exchange or possess any Israeli goods, commodities or products, whether received directly or indirectly. Products also cannot include any material from Israeli products.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas welcomed the decision and said it was in line with the policy of the Kuwaiti government, Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber Al Sabah and the Kuwaiti nation, who have supported Palestinians in all political, diplomatic, parliamentary and international spheres.

It also called on other countries to “follow the same approach” and restrict trade and maritime traffic with the Israeli regime.

Kuwait’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Talal al-Fassam on December 1 denounced Israeli president Isaac Herzog’s to the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Banks city of al-Khalil during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, saying the move hurt the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.

Back in late May, Kuwait’s National Assembly unanimously approved bills that outlaw any deals or normalization of ties with the Tel Aviv regime.

On August 18 last year, 37 Kuwaiti lawmakers called on their government to reject a normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement, the members of parliament affirmed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, “recalling the parliament’s stable and continuous position against normalization [with Israel] in all its forms.”

Anti-Israeli sentiments run high in Kuwait. A poll conducted in 2019 by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, an American think tank, showed that 85 percent of Kuwaitis oppose normalizing ties with Israel.

Israeli police kill young Palestinian in Jerusalem

The man was identified as Mohammad Shawkat Salima, 25, a resident of the West Bank province of Salfit.

Israeli reports claimed that the man, who was later identified, had attempted to stab Israeli police officers at the site prior to the incident.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRC) said the Israeli occupation forces denied access of its medics to the site of the shooting incident to provide Salima with first aid, shortly before he was announced dead.

PRC added at least three Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire during clashes which erupted in Jerusalem’s Old City in the aftermath of the deadly incident.

President Mahmoud Abbas’s office has condemned Israel’s assassination of the Palestinian young man.

The President’s Office said in a statement that the latest crime was a continuity of Israel’s ongoing aggression on the Palestinian people that should not be tolerated.

The statement urged the international community to immediately act to stop Israel’s crimes, provide protection to the Palestinian people, end the occupation and create an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has also called on “the International Criminal Court to break its unjustified silence and start its investigations into the crimes of the occupation and its settlers”.

UAE National Security Advisor to visit Iran

The Emirati official will travel to Iran on an official invitation from the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Vice Admiral Ali Shamkhani.

Sheikh Tahnoun is scheduled to hold talks with Shamkhani as well as other senior Iranian officials.

High on the agenda of the meetings are promotion and expansion of bilateral relations and discussions on the latest regional developments.

The visit comes on the heels of a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani and Anwar Gargash, the senior adviser to the UAE Crown Prince.

“I hope that the delegation’s departure to Tehran will take place as soon as possible, and all our friends are aware of that,” Gargash said in a presser before the Emirati delegation’s departure for Tehran. “Our goal is to open a new page.”

Relations between Iran and the United Arab Emirates soured after the Emirates joined Saudi Arabia in its war on Yemen in 2015. Bilateral relations further worsened after Abu Dhabi signed a normalization deal with Israel. However, the two sides have shown signs of a de-escalation in tensions over the recent months.

Report: US military base in Syria hit by rocket attack

The US military denied there was any attack.

“There is no truth to the reports that US forces in Syria were attacked by rockets today,” tweeted coalition spokesman Col Wayne Marotto.

Earlier, Siyamend Ali, a spokesman for Washington-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, stated two rockets were fired at the al-Omar field in Syria’s eastern province of Deir el-Zour without inflicting any casualties.

He added that it was not immediately clear where the rockets were fired from.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the rockets were fired from an area in Mayadeen, also in Deir el-Zour.

Syria’s state news agency, SANA, also reported that the al-Omar facility was hit with two rockets.

Later, the SDF denied reports that another base housing US troops was hit, saying the sounds of explosions at the facility, known as Conoco, were from training with live ammunition.

The rocket attack on al-Omar came six days after US troops in eastern Syria came under a similar attack. Last week’s attack came a day after US Air Force planes carried out airstrikes near the Iraq-Syria border.

Explosive device defused ahead of Turkish president rally

The car belonged to the officer in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province.

He was about to leave for the rally in Siirt province when his friend, also a police officer, noticed an object under the vehicle.

The bomb disposal squad was called, which carried out a controlled explosion to destroy the device, while a further investigation is underway.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended various ceremonies in Siirt during the day.

Iran police seize some 1.5 tonnes of narcotics

“In an operation by drug police commandos in the towns of Saravan and Khash, three drug smugglers were arrested and 1,421 kilograms of narcotics were seized,” said commander of police force in Sistan-Baluchestan Province Ahmad Taheri.

“Drug enforcement police officers in the province had clues about the activities of a professional drug smuggling ring, which intended to take two major drug hauls from the towns of Saravan and Khash to the center of the country. So, the drug agents moved to bust the drug ring and seized the narcotics cargos,” the police commander explained.

Iran has been at the forefront of war on drugs, having paid huge material and human costs.

Iran has always called for a concerted international effort to fight narcotics and smash drug-smuggling rings.
