The issue of Jerusalem al-Quds has remained a top story in almost all Iranian newspapers on Sunday. Several papers covered the isolation of the US in a meeting of the UN Security Council, where all member states condemned Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli regime’s capital and relocated the US embassy to the city.

Iranian papers also covered other figures’ reactions to the controversial decision, particularly the remarks made by IRGC Chief-Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and the global protest rallies held in various parts of the world in support of Palestine.

Another top story today was the visit of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to Tehran and his meetings with top Iranian officials.

Turkey Says Ties with Iran Vital for Regional Security

“To create peace and prosperity as well as lasting security in the region, it is essential that the two major building blocks of a large civilization – Iran and Turkey – come together, especially in security matters,” Soylu said on Sunday after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in Tehran.

The two officials discussed issues such as terrorism, immigration, border issues, drugs trafficking and organized crime, according to Soylu.

The Iranian interior minister said Iran and Turkey share common concerns.

With cooperation between Iran, Turkey and other regional states, we will end new tensions, Rahmani Fazli said, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

An advanced relationship in trade, politics, economy, and security between the two countries could set an example for the entire region and create infrastructure for regional peace, he added.

Soylu arrived in Tehran on Saturday for talks with Iranian officials on bilateral and regional issues.

In early October, Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan paid an official visit to Iran with a high-ranking delegation to attend the fourth round of strategic meetings between Iran and Turkey and to discuss the latest regional developments and the status of bilateral ties with Iranian officials.

Iran and Turkey signed a number of cooperation agreements during the presidential visit.

Iran’s Tabriz Covered with Autumn Snow

Tabriz is the most populated city in Iranian Azarbaijan. With a population of over 1.73 million, it is the largest economic hub and metropolitan area in northwestern Iran.

The city has a semi-arid climate with regular seasons. The annual precipitation is around 280 millimetres, a good deal of which falls as snow during the winter months and rain in spring and autumn. The city enjoys mild and fine climate in spring, dry and semi-hot in summer, humid and rainy in autumn and snowy cold in winter. The average annual temperature is 12.6.

Iran President Due in Istanbul to Attend OIC Summit on Al-Quds

Hassan Rouhani

Parviz Esmaili, the presidential office’s deputy for communications and information, announced in a tweet that Rouhani will head to Istanbul on Tuesday afternoon and will deliver a speech at the OIC summit which will be convened on Wednesday morning in the Turkish city.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has invited leaders of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to convene for an extraordinary leaders’ summit in Istanbul over the issue of Jerusalem al-Quds.

Erdoğan’s Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalın says the Turkish President has called on OIC member states to come together to display joint action and coordination among Muslim countries.

US President Donald Trump’s decision to relocate the capital city of the Israeli regime from Tel Aviv to Jeruslam al-Quds has received united criticism from many countries.

Iran Leader Praises Wrestler Who Avoided Facing Israeli Opponent

During the Sunday meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the sacrifice and dedication of the young athlete, saying that he did a great job.

“I really felt proud that one of our youths is willing to give up on his wishes for a great and long-term goal, and abandons his absolute right to become a champion,” said the Leader.

He also noted that God gives the spiritual reward of this great move, but the officials must do their best to provide the Iranian wrestler with financial rewards.

At the U23 World Championship in Poland, Karimi was well ahead of his opponent, Russia’s Alikhan Zabrailov, in the fourth minute. However, with his trainer’s advice Karimi went on to lose the match to avoid facing the Israeli regime’s Uri Kalashnikov in the next round.

Afterwards, the Iranian government was quick to praise Karimi.

“Your noble and heroic action in the world competitions in Poland, abandoning the medal and the podium in support of the highest human values, is a source of pride and praise,” said a statement on the website of Iran’s Ministry of Sport and Youth.

Iran-UK Dialogue Can Boost Regional Stability: Rouhani

Iran-UK

In a Sunday meeting with visiting UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson in Tehran, Rouhani said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been after establishing peace and security in the region.

Dialogue between Iran and the UK can contribute to efforts being made to this end, he noted, according to a Farsi report by the president’s official website.

Rouhani underlined the need for expansion of balanced and friendly ties between Iran and the UK and said despite the appropriate grounds created following the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the relations between the two sides have not yet grown as expected.

“To reach the ideal point in bilateral relations, the two sides need to try harder and take concrete steps,” he noted, calling for promotion of banking ties between Iran and the UK.

He also pointed to the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, and said preserving and implementing the accord is highly significant.

“We maintain that all sides, particularly the Iranian nation, should be able to reap the fruits of the nuclear deal.”

The Iranian president also warned about the vulnerable situation of the region and said, “The region is going through a sensitive time in which all regional sides should avoid fanning the flame of chaos.”

He vehemently condemned the US for its provocative decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli regime’s capital and said the decision amounts to fuelling the fire that has engulfed the region.

For his part, the visiting British foreign secretary said the JCPOA has created an appropriate ground for expansion of bilateral ties, adding that the UK views the JCPOA as a positive deal which should not be violated at all.

He also said his country is determined to strengthen its relations with Iran in various fields, adding that Iran enjoys good economic capacities.

“We are interested to see more UK companies in Iran for investment in the country.”

Johnson praised Iran for its contribution to fight against terrorism and establishment of peace and security throughout the region and said the UK does not endorse the decision of US President Donald Trump to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.

Muslim States Should Sever Relations with US: Iran’s Larijani

Larijani

“Nothing has broken the hearts of Muslims more than Trump’s move,” Larijani told a parliament session on Sunday. He said even Washington’s friends have condemned the “unacceptable and irrational” declaration.

“None of the former US presidents had such an unacceptable behavior, but the incumbent president took the imprudent measure after phone calls with several leaders of the Arab states,” he said.

Trump on Wednesday declared that the US was recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and had instructed his administration to begin the process of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the ancient city.

The decision has sparked a wave of condemnations, protests and warnings of further conflagration in the Middle East and led to violent clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces.

Larijani said, “The least expectation from Muslim nations vis-à-vis this imprudence is that they suspend their political ties with the US until Mr. Trump understands the depth of his humiliating behavior towards Muslims.

“And if they have a higher will, Muslims are expected to halt their trade relations with the US so that this fraudulent businessman of a president understands that he cannot trade with the dignity of Muslims,” he added.

Larijani said according to confidential reports, Trump’s decision was “already coordinated with some countries as part of shoring up the Zionist regime, normalizing relations with the regime, and consigning the tragic drama of the Palestinian nation to oblivion, which means the countries involved have put all their dignity up for auction.”

“We wouldn’t like to believe these reports but simple calculations show what a scandal America has created through this adventure and that if Muslim and Arab countries do not distance themselves form it, nothing will be left of their dignity and they will have Muslim nations stand up against them.”

On Friday, Palestinian officials expressed worries that Saudi Arabia is forgoing their vital rights as it acts behind the scenes to advance a US “grand bargain” over the conflict with Israel that heavily favors Israel.

Larijani said that “apart from the American idiocy, these [Arab] countries suffered the biggest damage because the US took its decision without informing them, which shows America’s absolute distrust in these states.”

“This is while all Muslim countries are expected to take a united stand against the US and adopt practical measures against it,” he added.

Iran Mourns Deaths of 9 Hikers Killed in Avalanche

The hikers were among a group of 14 from the city of Mashhad along with a local guide who were trapped by the avalanche on Thursday while climbing the mountains in Lorestan Province.

They were heading back from Oshtorankuh, one of the highest ranges in Zagros mountain range. The chain is known as the Iranian Alps because of its high peaks which are snow-capped all year round.

The death of two hikers was confirmed on the very day and rescue operations began to find the others, but the efforts to locate the seven missing hikers – three women and four men – were to no avail.

The bodies of the missing ones were later recovered on Saturday by Red Crescent forces.

The hikers were trying to reach a shelter when the avalanche struck, state news agency IRNA quoted Sarem Rezayi, the director of the Red Crescent in Lorestan province, as saying.

Iran Mourns Deaths of 9 Hikers Killed in AvalancheIn a move to show their grief and solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims, several people lit candles and laid wreaths in front of the victims’ mountain climbing club in Mashhad.

Following the tragic incident, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his deep condolences over the deaths of the hikers on his Instagram page. “May the souls of the departed hikers rest in eternal peace,” read the message.

Iran Sets Conditions for Normalising Ties with Saudi Arabia

Addressing the Iranian Parliament on Sunday, Rouhani said if Saudi Arabia stops bombarding Yemen as of tomorrow and halts begging for establishment of ties with the Israeli regime, then Tehran will resume its relations with Riyadh.

“Except these two, we do not have any problems with Riyadh. They should come forward (to normalise relations),” added Rouhani, according to a Farsi report by Khabar Online.

Iran never breaks its promises as the United States does, he noted, stressing that the Islamic Republic hardly makes pledges, but when it does so by signing a deal, it is committed to fulfilling it.

Addressing the European states and the US, Rouhani noted that as long as they abide by their commitments, Iran will comply with its commitments as well.

“We have not been and will not be the first party who violates the deal. In case they want to violate the accord, there are no worries as we have taken all the necessary measure into consideration,” he concluded.
