President Vows Iran’s Political, Legal Action on Mina Tragedy

Addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran, President Rouhani said the government will not forget about the blood of the Iranian martyrs shed in Mina, stressing that legal and political actions will continue to be taken on the matter.

He also lashed out at the Saudi regime for its refusal to make an apology for the deaths in last year’s tragic incident or to offer any compensation.

More than 460 Iranians were among the thousands of pilgrims who died on September 24, 2015, in a crush in Mina, near Mecca, during the Hajj pilgrimage.

The incident marked the worst ever tragedy during Hajj.

Earlier on Monday, in a message to the Hajj pilgrims, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei strongly slammed “murderous” Saudi rulers for refusing to allow an international probe into Mina tragedy, urging Muslims to “correctly understand their (Saudis’) blasphemous, faithless, dependent and materialistic nature.”

Oil Exporters, Consumers Both Harmed by Unstable Market, Low Prices

Rouhani

“Instability and the drop in oil prices will not only be detrimental to member countries [of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries], but will also be inconsistent with the major objective of environment conservation across the world,” Rouhani said in a meeting with OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo in Tehran on Tuesday.

He expressed hope that oil prices would return to a “stable and fair” state through cooperation among OPEC members and their prudence.

“Today, we must all pursue a common goal which is having a balanced market and fair and just shares among OPEC member countries,” Press TV quoted the Iranian president as saying.

He also declared Iran’s support for any decision to restore stability to the global oil market.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will support any move in line with market stability and the improvement of oil prices based on justice, fairness and respecting fair shares for oil producing countries,” Rouhani pointed out.

Oil-exporting countries have been seeking a deal to cap production levels in an attempt to prevent a further drop in global oil prices, which in recent years saw a fall from a high of 147 dollars a barrel to a low of around 25 dollars.

Saudi Arabia, however, has torpedoed plans for a freeze on global production aimed at stabilizing oil markets, arguing that Iran must freeze its output. Tehran, meanwhile, says that it wants to raise production to levels prior to the imposition of the now-removed US-led sanctions over its nuclear energy program.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh said on Tuesday that Iran supports any potential measures aimed at restoring stability to global oil market, adding that most OPEC member states support oil prices between $50 and $60 per barrel.

‘Oil Producers, Consumers Must Work to Remove Challenges’

The OPEC chief, for his part, commended Iran’s support for the international body’s independence and growth.

Barkindo said oil producing and consuming countries must boost cooperation to settle the existing challenges in the global market, adding that OPEC member states must do their part in solving problems that face the market.

He also hailed Iran’s great achievements in the energy sector and said the country has managed to make great progress and take major steps in various fields of economy, particularly in the oil and gas industry, in a short period after the removal of sanctions against Tehran.

Iran, which is OPEC’s third largest producer, has been ramping up crude oil output since a nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), between Tehran and the Group 5+1 took effect on January 16, removing obstacles in the way of more crude production.

Iran Hits Back at Saudi Prince for Hajj Comments

Bahram Qassemi

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Tuesday denounced the allegations raised by Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, saying the Saudi rulers are trying to play a recurring and futile game to shirk responsibility for the death of thousands of pilgrims in a deadly crush of people in Mina during last year’s Hajj.

The spokesman also reminded bin Nayef –Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, first deputy prime minister and the minister of interior at the same time- to recall his government’s failure to protect the security of Hajj pilgrims and provide an explanation for the tragic incident.

The Saudi rulers that claim to be in charge of protecting the Islamic teachings must prosecute those at fault in the Mina tragedy who did not care about the lives of poor pilgrims and have defied the formation of an Islamic international fact-finding committee to probe into the tragedy, he noted.

Not only have the Saudi rulers refused to express regret over the death of thousands of pilgrims, but are also directly and indirectly sacrificing the Muslim nations in the region for their deceptive political games, Qassemi added.

In statement released through the Saudi Arabia’s state news agency, SPA, on Tuesday, the Saudi crown prince accused Iran of endangering the security of all Hajj pilgrims.

He has also accused Iran of trying to politicize Hajj by using it as an opportunity to violate the teachings of Islam and disturb the security of pilgrims.

More than 460 Iranians were among the thousands of pilgrims who died on September 24, 2015, in a crush in Mina, near Mecca, during the Hajj pilgrimage.

The incident marked the worst ever tragedy during Hajj.

No Resemblance between Muslims’ Islam, Saudi Wahhabism: Zarif

“Indeed; no resemblance between Islam of Iranians & most Muslims & bigoted extremism that Wahhabi top cleric & Saudi terror masters preach,” Zarif said in a message posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

The remark by the Iranian foreign minister came in response to Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al ash-Sheikh saying that Iranians were not Muslims.

The Wahhabi Mufti made the remarks after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei strongly criticized “murderous” Saudi rulers over last year’s deadly Mina crush, which claimed the lives of over 4,700 pilgrims, including 465 Iranians.

“Several thousand families from different countries lost their loved ones and their nations were bereaved. From the Islamic Republic, close to five hundred people were among the martyrs. The hearts of their families are still broken and bereaved and our people remain grief-stricken and angry,” the Leader said.

“Instead of apology and remorse and judicial prosecution of those who were directly at fault in that horrifying event, Saudi rulers- with utmost shamelessness and insolence- refused to allow the formation of an international Islamic fact-finding committee.”

Hajj Security in the Hands of Israelis

Iran Officially Declares Cancellation of This Year's Hajj Pilgrimage

After media reports disclosed that the Saudi authorities have signed a contract with an Israeli company named G4S in an effort to ensure the security of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, Al-Aqsa Mosque’s preacher Sheikh Ikrema Sabri voiced his anger in an interview with Al Alam News Network, which is translated by IFP.

Sheikh Sabri issued an advance warning that the G4S Company is most likely serving as a conduit for the Zionist regime [Israel]’s stealthy infiltration into the world of Islam and the Arabs’ society.

It seems that handing over the responsibility of Hajj security to an Israeli security and intelligence company is a big step forward for Saudi royal family in cultivating relations with the Zionist regime.

The reports came as Saudi authorities describe the electronic bracelets as a preventive measure that can be helpful in such cases as the Mina crush, which killed thousands on September 24, 2015,

Saudis say that the wristlets will store each pilgrim’s personal information, including their address and medical records.

The bracelets are equipped with a GPS device which transmits information about the pilgrims’ whereabouts to the intelligence services that have strategic links with Riyadh.

Although it was an Israeli online radio station that broke the news of Saudis’ contract with English-Israeli G4S Company, Saudi authorities have denied the authenticity of the news.

It is worth noting that the G4S Company has been entrusted with the security of Israeli prisons and has furnished Saudis with all kinds of torturing devices while playing an active role in extensive suppressions of Palestinians.

Iran’s Intelligence Minister in Germany for Talks

Terrorist Ringleader Jamshid Sharmahd Arrested Inside Iran: Minister

Heading an Iranian delegation, Alawi has travelled to Berlin at the invitation of German officials.

In a meeting on Tuesday, the two sides discussed the issues of mutual interest.

Elsewhere in Berlin, Mr. Alawi met Iran’s embassy staff, highlighting the significance of working for the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Back in February, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined the need for a global resolve to fight terror, and voiced Iran’s preparedness to expand its cooperation with the European Union (EU) member states in the campaign against terrorism and extremism.

Support for Terrorists in Mideast Must End: Rouhani

Rouhani-Bartolone

“Regional stability depends on ending support for terrorism. The eradication of terrorism, restoration of stability and security to the region, repatriation of refugees to their homes and enforcement of the people’s will and vote are among the important and common goals [of Iran and France] on regional issues,” Rouhani said in a meeting with President of French National Assembly Claude Bartolone in Tehran on Tuesday.

Stressing the importance of improving cooperation between Iran and France on regional issues, particularly the fight against terrorism, Rouhani said, “The expansion of cooperation and joint consultations between the two countries can help settle regional problems and issues.”

As a major victim of terrorism, the Islamic Republic is aware of the dangers of the ominous phenomenon of terrorism while France is also now cognizant of this important issue following the recent terrorist attacks in the country, Rouhani said.

He further expressed concern over the destruction of infrastructure in the Middle Eastern countries, particularly Syria, and the killing of innocent people, saying that terrorists are selling Syria and Iraq’s antiques and oil to other countries while “everyone knows which countries are assisting them from inside and outside the region and which countries are supplying terrorists with weapons and armaments.”

Rouhani noted that Iran is helping Syria and Iraq fight against terrorism upon the request of the two countries’ governments, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran still believes that dialogue and the pursuit of political approaches are the right path to solve problems in Syria.”

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimates that over 400,000 people have been killed in the conflict.

Full implementation of Tehran-Paris accords a necessity

The Iranian president further urged Tehran and Paris to fully and swiftly implement agreements reached between the two sides during his visit to France in January following the implementation of a nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries.

Rouhani said the implementation of the mutual documents would lead to a tangible change in bilateral relations in such areas as politics, economy, culture and science.

Iran and France signed a series of basic trade deals estimated to be worth billions of dollars on January 28 during the historic visit to Paris by the Iranian president.

Rouhani and his French counterpart, Francois Hollande, oversaw the signing of the agreements, which concerned cooperation in different economic sectors such as aviation, car manufacturing and oil among others.

France pledges to fully implement agreements

The top French parliamentarian, for his part, said Iran and France should make efforts to fully implement all agreements they have previously reached.

He added that his country supports bids by big French banks to cooperate with and invest in Iran.

Bartolone said Iran plays a leading role in reinforcing stability and security in the region and added that Tehran and Paris have common views on many regional and international issues and can cooperate to solve problems.

He also emphasized that the campaign against terrorism requires the collective effort and resolve of all countries.

Iran Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Baghdad, Kabul

Bahram Ghasemi

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned the Monday terrorist attacks that killed civilians in Baghdad’s Karradah district and in Kabul, expressing sympathy with the governments and nations of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The common objective and ideology of the Takfiri-terrorist groups is to harm stability and security in the regional countries, Qassemi deplored, saying the terror groups continue to shed blood of hundreds of people every day amid the international community’s silence and indifference.

The violent and terrorist attacks will continue as long as the international community lacks the necessary resolve to identify the root causes of Takfiri-Wahhabi terrorism and force the supporters of those terrorist groups to stop their support.

His comments came after two bombing blasts killed at least five people and injured 11 others near the Afghan Ministry of Defense in Kabul on Monday.

Elsewhere in Iraq, a car bombing killed at least 12 civilians in a commercial area in central Baghdad on Monday.

A police officer said Tuesday that the explosives-laden car, which was left in a parking lot in the Shiite-dominated district of Karradah, exploded late Monday, wounding up to 28 people and damaging at least 15 cars.

Mine Explosion Kills Little Boy in West of Iran

An official in Sardasht told IRNA that the child was an eight-year-old boy.

The boy was playing with his two friends when they found a mine and started playing with it, Mir Ashkan Mahdavi said.

Because of the explosion, Mohammad Eliasi was killed on the spot and two other boys were injured, Mahdavi said.

The mine had been moved to Sardasht due to the soil erosion and rainfall, he noted.

The event is the second of its kind since the beginning of the Iranian calendar year on March 20, the official said.
