The water level of Lake Urmia in West Azarbaijan province has started to rise, following the spring rainfalls and the release of the province’s dam waters.
Lake Urmia, the largest in Iran and one of the most important saltwater lakes in the world, has been facing water crisis in recent years.
The lake contains four billion cubic metres of water now. The water level usually continues to rise until mid-May, and the volume of water is expected to be more than 4.5 square metres by then.
