Iranian President Hassan Rouhani harshly criticized his US counterpart Donald Trump for ordering the construction of a wall along the US southern border with Mexico, reminding him of the fate of the Berlin wall.
“We honour peace, reconciliation, brotherhood and coexistence. Today is not the time for building a wall between nations,” Rouhani said in an address to an international tourism conference in Tehran on Saturday.
“They have forgotten that the Berlin wall collapsed several years ago,” the Iranian president added, according to a report by Fars.
Trump has insisted he will force Mexico to pay for a wall between the two countries to curb what he has called as illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
