Iran’s Beauties in Photos: Meighan Wetland

Meighan wetland is located 15 km north-east of Arak in central Iran. It is about 1,700 metres above the sea level and is considered the most important home of migrant birds in Iran.

There are more than 130 species of birds, including cranes, ducks, flamingos, goose, etc. in this wetland. The area of the wetland changes from 10,000 hectares to 12,000 hectares depending on its water inputs.

Meighan is one of the most important sites for nature tourism and bird-watching in the country. Due to the gathering of cranes in this wetland on November 15, the day has been called The Day of Cranes.
