Iranians have had a special interest in horses since ancient times, and sports like horse racing and polo are deep-rooted in the history of this land.
In North Khorasan Province, the counties of Raz, Jargalan, Maneh, and Samalghan are recognized as the main hubs for breeding Turkmen horses and are among the most important regions for producing this breed in Iran.
Every year, horse racing competitions and festivals are held in these areas to introduce and preserve the purebred Turkmen horse.
