The latest figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry indicate that 57,023 patients have recovered from the novel coronavirus, and been discharged from hospital.
In his daily briefing on Sunday, Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said 1,343 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of cases to 82,211.
He said 87 people have died of the virus in the past 24 hours, increasing the death toll to 5,118.
Jahanpour said 3,456 patients are currently in severe conditions. He also noted that 341,662 coronavirus tests have been taken so far across the country.
