A top Iranian politician says the Islamic Republic played a major role in the liberation of the Iraqi city of Mosul.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, an international advisor to Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, has noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran played a key role in achieving victory in Mosul.
He has also talked about the time when the ISIS terrorists seized the northern Iraqi city and sent their first diplomatic notes to Western embassies.
The following are highlights of the comments he made in a Monday televised interview:
*The Islamic Republic of Iran played a key role in achieving victory in Mosul. *Security organizations in the region and beyond had been planning to create a new version of the Hezbollah movement.
*ISIS was supposed to be Washington and Riyadh’s effective arm in the region. *For the first time after the fall of Mosul, ISIS sent official diplomatic notes to Western embassies.
*The Americans’ problems with former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was that he had a proper understanding of Washington’s plan to dominate Iraq.
*Iran was once offered to stop supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, so that they [the West] would finish the war in Syria.
*The US did nothing to rid Iraq of ISIS, and it is doing the same thing in Syria. *Some urban managers in Mosul turned traitor, and some officials of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region connived at ISIS atrocities.
*Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has always stressed that “whatever we do in Iraq should benefit all [Iraqi] people with whatever religion.”
*We witnessed the greatest American-Kurdish-Arab-Israeli betrayal in ISIS’ attack on Erbil.
