Iran Leader Allows Gov’t to Withdraw $4 Billion from National Development Fund

Iran’s Leader has allowed the government to withdraw $4 billion from the National Development Fund to address a range of issues including the dust pollution engulfing the country’s southwestern provinces, a lawmaker said.

The Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s Budget Commission Ali-Asghar Yousefnejad said “fortunately the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has Okayed the government’s withdrawal of a total of $4b from the National Development Fund in the next fiscal year’s budget.”

According to a Farsi report by ICANA, the lawmaker noted that based on the Leader’s agreement and the budget commission’s approval, the money will be allocated for a number of issues.

Yousefnejad said the breakdown of the allotment is as follows:

$2.5b for boosting the country’s defence capabilities

$150m for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB)

$100m for the reconstruction of quake-hit and flood-stricken areas

$100m for pneumococcal vaccine and rotavirus vaccine (child infections)

$350mn for Sistan and Baluchestan facilities (port)

$150m for tackling dust storms

$200m for water supply to villages

$250m for promotion of under pressure irrigation

$200m for watershed management
