Iran FM Vows to Pursue Martyrdom of Guards Killed near Pakistan Border

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed his condolences over the deaths of Iranian border guards killed in a clash with outlaws near the Pakistani border, and promised to pursue the punishment of the terrorists.

“I offer my condolences over the sad news of the martyrdom of a number of brave and innocent Iranian border guards killed by armed outlaws,” Zarif said in a message on Thursday.

Zarif expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims, and gave assurance that the Foreign Ministry will spare no effort to pursue the issue and the punishment of the terrorists through diplomatic channels.

Takfiri militants shot to death 9 Iranian border guards who were patrolling on the frontier with Pakistan on Wednesday.

The Iranian troops were martyred in an ambush by the terrorists in Mirjaveh in the Iran-Pakistan border’s zero-point.

A terrorist group calling itself Jaish al-Adl [The Army of Justice] has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

The spokesman for the Iranian Police said Pakistan should accept its responsibility for the cross-border terrorist attack.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency late on Wednesday, Brigadier General Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi said the border guards were killed by long-range weapons firing from inside Pakistan.
