Hunting Scenes on Tiles of Tehran’s Golestan Palace

The Golestan Palace, a famous world heritage site in Tehran, is home to a series of beautiful tile artworks, whose history in Iran goes back to prehistoric times.

Tile art is a small arrangement of tiles; or in some cases, a single one with a painted pattern or image on top. The art has always had an important status among various decorative arts in Iran.

The tradition was pretty strong in the Qajar era (1785-1925) in Iran.

The art has been used to decorate walls of the Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran, which was rebuilt to its current form in 1865.
