50 Tonnes of Election Campaign Posters Removed from Tehran Streets

A Tehran Municipality official says more than 50 tonnes of waste paper remaining from Iranian candidates’ campaigns for the recent elections have been collected and removed from the Iranian capital’s streets.

The deputy head of Urban Services Directorate of Tehran Municipality, Mojtaba Yazdani, said over 50 tonnes of wastepaper, remaining from the electoral campaigns of the candidates contesting Iran’s presidential  and city and village council elections (both held on May 19), have been collected and removed from the streets and alleys of the Iranian capital.

The cleaning process has been carried out in less than 12 hours by 5,000 street sweepers and 600 light cars, he added.

He said the wastepaper, mostly comprising candidates’ posters and ads, will be recycled by the waste management agencies of each of Tehran’s districts and will be returned to the production cycle.
