The Stunning Architecture of Yazd

Yazd, a desert provincial capital, is home to its own unique Persian architecture. The historical city is nicknamed the “City of Wind-Catchers” (Shahr-e Badgirha) due to its ancient wind towers, which make use of thermal air currents to both cool and heat buildings depending on the season and time of day.
