Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif strongly censured the Wednesday's twin deadly terrorist attacks in Tehran, saying such acts reinforce the Islamic Republic’s resolve in fight against terrorism.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Iranian foreign minister said terrorism is a problem in the Middle East and also all around the world.
“In terms of security we are witnessing a very bad situation in the region”, Zarif went on to say.
“Such acts will strengthen the will of our people to stand against terrorism”, the Iranian top diplomat added.
He made the comments upon his arrival at the Turkish capital, Ankara. Speaking to reporters at Essenboga International airport, Zarif also expressed sorrow over the tragic incidents and also the death of a number of people in Tehran.
On Wednesday, the terrorist attacks on Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran claimed the lives of 12 people. At least 42 others were also wounded. According to Iran’s Interior Ministry, all the assailants involved in these two terrorist acts are killed.
Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for Ankara hours before the deadly attacks. He is scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and also his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
