Iran has dismissed the claims made by a Taliban official about Tehran’s support for the Afghan militant group.
According to a report by ILNA, as translated by IFP, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi rejected the claims made by Zabihullah Mujahid, the Spokesman for the Afghan militant group Taliban, about Tehran’s support for the group.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a pioneer among regional countries in the fight against terrorist groups, and has paid heavy prices in its fight against these groups,” Qassemi said.
He further referred to Zabihullah’s claims as a pre-planned move ordered by the group’s sponsors and aimed at disturbing public opinion and spreading Iranophobia.
“The claim about Iran’s support for the group is nonsense, false, and a blatant lie,” he stressed.
Taliban’s move to raise such claims is a desperate effort to distract the world’s public opinion from Al Saud’s atrocities in the slaughter of innocent people of Yemen, he added.
