An informed Iranian security source has denied rumors that a firefight broke out between Iranian and Afghan forces on Iran’s eastern border.
“There have been no operations or shootouts in our country’s eastern border areas between Iranian and Afghan troops, and news published about that is false,” added the same source.
“Over the past days, fighting has taken place on Afghan soil which has been related to Afghan forces’ operation against the positions of the ISIS terrorist group and has nothing to do with common border areas between Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
