Russia: Iran, P5+1 determined to reach nuclear deal

Russia says that Iran and the P5+1 are determined to arrive at a final nuclear deal by November 24.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov says Iran and P5+1 have “enough political will” to reach a comprehensive nuclear deal before the November 24 deadline.

“I have no doubt that they have enough political will and interest to work out the final solution by the established date,” Ryabkov told RIA Novosti on Thursday.

He added that Moscow has received “signals” in recent days from “Tehran, Washington and European capitals [that] indicate that all participants at the talks are at the low start and ready for a sprinter run.”

Ryabkov also stressed that his country is prepared to help find a solution to end the impasse over the Iranian nuclear energy program during the next round of talks in Oman.

“We have shown a great commitment to these talks and their participants respect the Russian position. I believe that we could help find a solution [to the Iranian nuclear issue] at the final stretch,” Ryabkov.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – France, Britain, the US, Russia, China – plus Germany are set to open a new round of discussions over the Islamic Republic’s civilian nuclear work in Oman on November 11.

The two sides have been holding talks to work out a final deal aimed at ending the longstanding standoff over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program as a November 24 deadline draws near.
