Red alert in western Iranian city as snow buries homes

Iranian officials have declared an emergency state in the western city of Kouhrang, Chaharmahah and Bakhtiari Province, as heavy downpours of snow bury houses there.

Iran’s Meteorological Organization announced that the total height of snow that that has fallen in the city has reached 222 centimeters.

The snow fall is forecast to continue until Thursday.

Images coming out of the cities show buildings are disappearing under the snow.
