Iran’s Police Seize 220 Kilograms of Illicit Drugs

The Iranian police forces have seized at least 220 kilograms of illicit drugs in the northern province of Khorasan Razavi.

Head of Khorasan Razavi Province’s Law Enforcement forces, Qader Karimi, says 220 kilograms of opium embedded in a trailer heading to Turkmenistan have been seized by the Law Enforcement forces in the city of Mashhad.

The law enforcement forces received reports on Wednesday on the smuggling of a large amount of drugs embedded on a trailer heading from Kerman to Turkmenistan. “The trailer was spotted on the entry to Mashhad and confiscated immediately,” he added.

“In a search operation, the forces managed to discover 220 kilograms of opium embedded in the trailer,” he said, according to a Farsi report by ISCA News.

According to Karimi, at least one smuggler has been arrested during the operation.

Since the beginning of this Iranian calendar year, beginning on March 20th, over 8 tonnes of drugs have been discovered by the law enforcement forces in Khorasan Razavi province.
