Chief-Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari says any compromise with the United States will be equal to the demise of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Speaking in a Tuesday ceremony in Tehran, General Jafari blasted a group of reformist figures who recently wrote a letter to call on Tehran to start negotiations with Washington.
He said the 100 reformist figures, or at least a considerable number of them, were agents tasked with preparing the grounds for Iran’s talks with Trump.
General Jafari stressed that any compromise with the US means the death of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and its values.
The IRGC chief made the remarks in reaction to a letter by 100 political activists in Iran and abroad who referred to the current conditions of Iran and the experience of US-North Korea talks, calling for ‘direct’ and ‘unconditioned’ talks between Tehran and Washington.
General Jafari also pointed to the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, and said, “The North Korean leader was revolutionary, but of the Communist type, not an Islamic one.”
That’s why he finally compromised with US. But we haven’t been ordered to compromise, he added.
