Iran’s Call for Peace Continues to Echo in Int’l Circles

The “reflection of the opinion of the Iranians” is perhaps the most appropriate description of the purpose of President Rouhani’s trip to New York and his participation in the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The UN General Assembly is a summit that, with the presence of high-ranking world leaders, becomes the focus of attention for political analysis every year.

According to a Farsi report by IRNA, the state of New York and the United Nations headquarters is hosting presidents, prime ministers, and kings from all over the world these days. Hundreds of high-ranking officials from the UN member states gather at the annual General Assembly session to discuss the challenges, threats and obstacles facing the world.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, who left Tehran on Sunday morning for New York, said his trip is aimed at eliminating the possible doubts of the West’s public opinion about the Islamic Republic.

Rouhani’s fifth journey to New York matters twice as much given the internal and external challenges where the region and the world are involved. This time Donald Tramp is the president of the host country. Trump’s decisions and remarks during the past year proves that his approach has nothing to do with the mediocre approach of his predecessor.

The US businessman (Trump) who has repeatedly called Iran a threat and has challenged the world’s agreement (the JCPOA) with Iran, is seeking to lead Iran to a point to violate the deal and then urge the world to annul it.

In the political equations of Trump, Iran’s nuclear deal is confusing and he cannot make a decision on it.

But this time, unlike the past decade, the United States does not see the world and the United Nations next to itself to impose sanctions against Iran.

The allegations and endless attempts by the US officials to violate the letter and spirit of the nuclear agreement in the past few months have created a global coalition against the White House.

The world powers seem to have accepted that the JCPOA is the only solution to Iran’s nuclear case, and they are sure it is a win-win deal for everyone. Hence, they deal with the ambitions of the United States from the standpoint of power.

Maintaining this solidarity and global unity to take care of the nuclear deal in face of American populism will be the most important focus of Rouhani’s efforts in New York.

Rouhani’s American counterpart in his Tuesday address to the UN General Assembly raised anti-Iran allegations, accusing the Islamic Republic of disrupting regional stability and security.

In reaction, the Iranian diplomatic team and president must make a wise decision against the prejudiced literature of the US President.

In addition to Washington’s insatiability, on the other hand, President Rouhani must struggle to protect this deal against the crises created by the Zionist regime and some of the regional countries.

The Zionist regime’s attempt to disrupt the nuclear agreement and its dissatisfaction with it is not a new issue. The leaders of this regime have openly or covertly blamed former US President Barack Obama for ending Iran’s international isolation and sealing the nuclear deal.

Moreover, under the illusion of Iranophobia, some regional powers do not tolerate peace and authority for Iran which resulted from the deal. To disrupt the achievements of the JCPOA, these countries are moving along with Trump. And on the domestic side, the government’s nuclear deal has fierce critics.

Although the principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomacy do not change with the change of governments and the president, Rouhani’s administration demonstrated in his first term that he wanted to introduce a peace-seeking image of Iran to the world.

In his four previous speeches, and unlike his predecessor, Rouhani spoke of desperate need for peace in the world and presented a new image of Iran. An image that, in addition to improving the country’s international reputation, returned the investors to the markets of Iran and made the rust-ridden wheels of Iran’s economy develop again and reminded the world of Iran’s rich culture.

Rouhani’s fifth presence at the UN General Assembly, which is the first visit of the twelfth Iranian president, is somehow an emphasis on the same peace-seeking policy in global interactions.

The Iranian president’s Wednesday address to the UN General Assembly will represent all Iranians and their call for peace, an issue that he also emphasized during his meeting with Iranian people living in the United States a couple of days ago.
