Iran Preparing to Attract More Tourists through “Tabriz 2018”

The Iranian city of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan Province has been selected by the OIC as the 2018 capital of Islamic Tourism, and the entire country is now getting prepared to host the highest number of tourists through the project Tabriz 2018.

Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Ali Asghar Mounesan says “Tabriz can be named as a special tourist destination in Iran due to this event,” IRNA wrote in a Farsi report.

Speaking in a meeting on promotion of the Tabriz 2018 cultural event, Mounesan also called on all Iranian organisations to announce their programs for Tabriz 2018 within a week.

“Reinforcement of the tourism police, the development of the city transportation to introduce Tabriz 2018, the use of Tabriz 2018 logo in the packaging of products produced in this city, the use of stickers on the body of buses and taxis, etc., are among the short-term actions that can best describe the event,” added Mounesan.

He also called on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) to introduce this event in the best salicylate-meds.com, and asked officials to explain the measures taken in this regard through radio and television.

“We will hold the necessary consultations with President Rouhani and ask him to attend the opening ceremony. We need to make the most ofour provincial and national capacities to hold the opening ceremony of this important event in a very magnificent way,” he went on to say.

Tabriz hosts a number of famed religious sites, including Grand Mosque and Tabriz Citadel, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tabriz Bazaar. It has been declared a World Craft City by the World Craft Council, which, along with Isfahan, makes it one of Iran’s only two cities to boast the title.

East Azarbaijan enjoys more than 30 national intangible heritage inscriptions, 20 specialized and general museums, five inscribed natural sites and tens of other historical places as well as unique handicrafts that can draw a great number of domestic and foreign tourists.
