Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has congratulated Cuba on the anniversary of its revolution, and called for further enhancement of relations between Tehran and Havana.
In a Sunday message to Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz, Rouhani offered his sincere congratulations to his counterpart and the country’s revolutionary people on the 59th anniversary of Cuban Revolution.
He also expressed the hope that the two countries, through joint efforts, would witness growing relations in all fields to serve the mutual interests of both sides.
Rouhani also wished health and success for Castro, and prosperity and felicity for the people of Cuba.
The Cuban Revolution was an armed revolt conducted by Fidel Castro’s 26th of July Movement and its allies against the authoritarian government of Cuban President Fulgencio Batista.
The revolution began in July 1953, and continued sporadically until the rebels finally ousted Batista on 1 January 1959, replacing his government with a revolutionary socialist state.
