The 20th Exhibition of Press and News Agencies will open at Tehran’s Grand Musalla on November 8, 2014 with Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati in attendance, the Islamic Republic News agency (IRNA) reported. The exhibition which runs through November 14 will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This year’s exhibition will play host to 560 media outlets of which 373 are private and another 183 belong to the public sector, said Hossein Entezami, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in charge of the Press Department.
He went on to say that “Each day one of the newspapers will put out the daily bulletin and the coordination center for the exhibition will not play a role in that regard.”
The motto picked for the 2014 exhibition is “Responsible Freedom”. The deputy minister reiterated that the eleventh government has adopted “Press freedom should be exercised according to law” as one of its platforms, adding, “Naturally, the government is going down the path of press freedom. Media too have responsibilities to undertake when it comes to social questions. They should take heed of social issues and honor their commitments.”
