Budapest Eager to Promote Agricultural Ties with Tehran

Deputy Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly István Jakab has called for expansion of Tehran-Budapest ties in a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday.

Speaking at the meeting held in Tehran, Jakab expressed his pleasure with traveling to the Islamic Republic.

“We hope you [FM Zarif] will have a visit to Hungary. We are interested in strengthening the cooperation of the two countries in various fields.”

“After the first joint commission, we are eager to boost parliamentary and also economic cooperation, especially in the field of agriculture,” Jakab added.

For his part, FM Zarif said that in recent years, Iran has had good relations with Budapest.

“The history of the bilateral ties goes back to a long time ago. I hope in the future I would have a trip to Hungary,” Zarif noted, stressing that banking cooperation provides the ground for expanding collaborations in other fields.

The two sides also discussed issues related to parliamentary cooperation, tourism, energy, and water management.
