Iranian foreign ministry spokesman says the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano’s visit to Tehran on Saturday is an indication of the IAEA’s strong support for the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
“In order to attend a fresh round of bilateral meetings between the UN nuclear watchdog’s officials and Iranian authorities, IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano will arrive in Tehran on Saturday,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said in a Wednesday statement.
According to Qassemi, Amano’s short visit is aimed at reviewing the latest situation of mutual cooperation and communications between the two sides in various fields including the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), the IAEA Safeguards, and nuclear collaborations in peaceful affairs.
Stressing that Amano has confirmed Iran’s full compliance with its JCPOA commitments in all of his previous reports to the Board of Governors, Qassemi said, “In the current atmosphere created by the American officials’baseless and unacceptable allegations against the nuclear deal, Amano’s visit to Tehran is a strong indication of the IAEA’s decisive support for JCPOA.”
