An official with Iran's National Elites Foundation says at least 800 Iranian elites graduated from universities abroad have returned to their country.
Mohammad Saleh Torkestani says out of the 800 Iranian elites who have returned to Iran, 256 ones have studied in top universities across the world.
“The National Elites Foundation is seriously trying to prepare the grounds for the return of elites studying abroad,” he was quoted as saying in a Farsi report by IRNA on Wednesday.
He went on to say at least four of the returned elites are now teaching in Tabriz university creating fundamental changes in the academic centre.
Torkestani underlined that the Iranian elites face no limitation for returning home, adding, “We invite the elites abroad to return to their country and offer services to their own people.”
He added the elites can play a key role in executive organizations and called on the officials in charge to tap into the elites’ capacities in various fields.
Torkestani said lack of communication between the government and the elites is one of the main reasons behind the Iranian elites’ decision to leave the country.
One of the main promises of President Hassan Rouhani during his electoral campaigns was to bring back Iranian elites from across the world.
