The first Res Artis Meeting in the Middle East will be held on November 21-25 in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
According to a report by IRNA, as translated by IFP, the Res Artis Meeting will take place under the title “Roots and Routes: Challenges and Opportunities of Connectivity”.
Through a number of panels, roundtable discussions and workshop sessions, the meeting will address the different interpretations and inherent implications history and traditions bear for residency spaces as well as shedding light on the importance of artists’ pathways and connectivity of residencies.
Against the backdrop of the cultural landscape in Iran and its placement in the wider region, participants can contextualize and discuss different approaches to artist residencies as well as topics like sustainability and funding with regard to their own region.
Res Artis is an association of over 550 centres, organisations, and individuals in over 70 countries. Each of its members is dedicated to offering artists, curators, and all manners of creative people the essential time and place away from the pressures and habits of every-day life, an experience framed within a unique geographic and cultural context.
