Tehran Ready to Boost Economic Cooperation with Nouakchott

Iranian foreign minister and his Mauritanian counterpart in a meeting on Monday conferred on ways to promote cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting held in the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott, Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif and his counterpart Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih agreed to hold regular political negotiations.

Zarif said Tehran is ready to implement all the previous agreements with the African country and seriously follow up the new ones.

The two sides also discussed the ways to expand banking activities and encourage the private sector to bid for mining, energy, agriculture, and fishery.

Cooperation in science, technology, aerospace, medicines, biotechnology, and academic fields was high in the agenda as well.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Mauritania also exchanged ideas on regional issues and the ways to combat terrorism and extremism.

Zarif also appreciated the hospitality of the Mauritanian government and people, saying that the North African country has a long history of religious moderation.
