Shamkhani: Presence of Daesh in Iraq, a threat to whole region

Iranˈs Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) chief Ali Shamkhani said the growing presence of the terrorists affiliated to Daesh group in Iraq is a threat to the whole region.

He made the remarks here on Wednesday in a meeting with the Syrian Ambassador to Iran Adnan Mahmoud.

He said the expanding presence of the terrorist group in Iraq which is involved in very violent actions was alarming to the whole region.

He believed the issue called for serious actions on the part of international circles and governments.

Shamkhani further congratulated President Bashar al-Assad on his re-election.

He said the free, broad and popular elections in Syria put an end to the excuses of crisis-seeking forces, healed the wounds of people and defeated terrorist groups and their supporters.

He said Syria taught the hegemonic powers which support terrorists a big lesson and showed them the power of the resistance movement in the region.

The senior Iranian official also stressed that spread of terrorism was a result of the illogical policies followed by its supporters.

He said the continuation of such a wrong policy will also affect the advocates of terrorism.

He reiterated Iranˈs support for the will of the Syrian nation.
