Oil Tanker Tragedy Makes Headlines in Iranian Papers

IFP has taken a look at the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Monday, January 15, and picked headlines from 12 of them. IFP has simply translated the headlines and does not vouch for their accuracy.

All newspapers today dedicated their front pages to the tragic incident that happened for Iranian oil tanker Sanchi, which caught fire and sank in Eastern China waters. All 32 crew members have died, according to officials.

Another top story today was the remarks made by Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei about the legal cases of brothers of President Hassan Rouhani and First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri.

Several papers also highlighted the report given by incumbent mayor of Tehran, Mohammad Ali Najagi, about the corruption and offences of his predecessor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who served as the mayor of Tehran for 12 years.
