During the International Conference on Urban Economy, the President of the World Citizens Organization predicted 83% urbanization for Iran by 2045.
Dr. Kwak Young Hoon addressed the conference on Monday May 23, where he told the meeting that the urban population in Asia was 2.1bn, which accounted for 48% of the continent’s population. “It will reach 3.2bn people, that is, 62% of Asia population. 58.3m Iranians lived in cities in 2015, which accounted for 73% of Iran’s population; this will reach 82% by 2045, that is, 83% of a total population of 98.9m by then,” he said.
“Economic development should consider environment, education, energy, engineering, and ethics; times have changed and history has ushered in a new era of technology and hi-tech living commodities,” Hoon told the conference. “Sustainable development and green space should be considered in new urbanization trends.”
The first International Conference on Urban Economy, with the major theme being Resistance Economy; Implementation and Action, commenced in Tehran on May 19.
