Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi says the US government has been informed of the Islamic Republic’s objection to the murder of the 25-year-old Iranian national, Bijan Ghaisar, in the US.
“The objection was voiced during a meeting between the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Americas and the Swiss ambassador – whose country represents the US interests in Iran – and a formal note has been submitted to the US government,” said Qassemi in a Monday statement.
“In this note, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has objected to the violent and unacceptable US police shooting at Bijan Ghaisar, an unarmed Iranian citizen, who died as a result on Monday November 27, 2017, in McLean, Virginia.”
“We have called on the US government to provide a formal explanation and asked for clarification on the dimensions of this unfortunate and unlawful event. The note also urges the US government to prosecute the agents and compensate for the damages,” he added.
The spokesman further mentioned that the Swiss ambassador announced the matter will be immediately handed over to the responsible authorities in the US government, and the results will be reported to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
